I do not have many nice things to say about Santo Domingo. Though I was staying in Piantini - supposedly one of the affluent, nicest and “safest” (lol to that part) parts of Santo Domingo, my experience was horrible in that city. A taxi driver stole my AirPods and a motorcyclist snatched my necklace and drove off to name a few of the terrible experiences I had while in the Piantini section of Santo Domingo. Safe to say I will never in my life visit or recommend Santo Domingo to anyone one.
However, if you MUST go to Santo Domingo - Santo Domingo Marriot Piantini is the place you have to be. The hotel is beautiful, the amenities are awesome, you are connected to Aloft Hotel and it’s amenities, the water pressure in the room is incredible and the staff is comprised of some of the most welcoming people you’ll meet in the city. Big shoutout to the manager Michelle, front host Luis and especially the doorman Juan Carlo who was my translator as I was speaking with the police. The staff really made my experience the best it could be.
I won’t be recommending Santo Domingo to anyone nor will I be back but if I absolutely must, Santo Domingo Marriott Piantini is the only place I will stay and I would probably not leave the hotel unless it is to go back to the airport.
