Be on the lookout for seashells to add to your collection at home or try to spot creatures like starfish and sea urchins at Basilicata Beach and Intavolata Beach. You'll find these inviting coastlines 95 kilometres and 70 kilometres away, respectively.

You don't need to travel too far to find some nice natural sights. Load up the car and follow the road signs to Pollino National Park, 45 kilometres away from Sapri, for a relaxing day. Or perhaps Cilento e Vallo di Diano National Park looks more appealing? It sits just 40 kilometres away.

Spend your escape moving between the frosty slopes and a seat beside the fireplace at La Sellata-Pierfaone Ski Resort and Comprensorio Sciistico Laceno. From newbies to those who know their stuff, there's something to please everyone at these snow-capped wonderlands.

There's even more just down the road. Torraca, 6 kilometres to the north, is known for WWF Oasis Bussento Caves and Oasi WWF di Morigerati. Alternatively, if the Statue of Christ the Redeemer and the Port of Maratea sound better to you, travel 10 kilometres southeast from Sapri to Maratea.

Certosa di San Lorenzo di Padula, Convent of St. Francis and the Joe Petrosino Museum are all close to Padula, 30 kilometres to the north. Want a few more reasons to visit? The Multimedia Museum and Baptistery of San Giovanni in Fonte are not far away either.

Your eyes shouldn't get to have all the fun while visiting Cilento. Give your taste buds a little TLC too by digging into some of the local food and drink. After all, you haven't really experienced a destination until you've tasted its flavours.

Of course, you can't go to Sapri without taking a bite of parmigiana (shallow fried eggplant slices layered with cheese and tomato sauce, then baked) or timballo (baked pasta, rice or potato). Popular with locals and considered signature dishes, they are a must-try experience for any food-loving adventurer.
