Great stay
We enjoyed our stay at the ranch. It was very comfortable from the living room furniture to the bed. (we had just stayed at a place that the couch was not comfortable). It was peaceful; the kitchen had everything we needed. It was nice to have the washer and dryer. We had beautiful sunsets and beautiful night skies. It was convenient to Badlands NP; a little bit of a drive to get into the heart of the NP but a nice drive. Kyle was very responsive to questions before our arrival and while we were there. We felt like we had our own little ranch for a few days.

Prairie perfection
You will never find a more peaceful, quiet vacation rental than this lovely little ranch near the badlands of South Dakota. The owners have made an oasis of trees and shrubs in a beautiful prairie setting. All you will hear is the gentle breeze, birds singing and a far off cow mooing. The inside of the cabin has been nicely renovated and decorated with western decor. We had everything we needed. Just be sure to pick up groceries before you come because you won’t want to leave the ranch once you get there. Great place for birdwatching.

Wow
Karl is a premier host that is kind and provides one of the most memorable and peaceful Vrbo experiences I have had yet. The house is cozy and supplies everything for a nice getaway - the lack of wifi was also a nice break from normal life. The surrounding Badlands area seems not of this world. My wife and I spent everyday hiking and sightseeing, marveling at the beauty and grandeur at nearly every turn. Can't recommend this property and owner enough.

Absolutely beautiful
Literally better than I thought. The place was very nice, we just wanted a place near the badlands desert and ended up getting a lot more. Karl always replied back to my text right away even when I thought I was locked out of the place(read “all” his directions). It’s a beautiful chunk of land. The place had tons of great information if you are adventure seekers. They have binders they made of the property and their history and nice little places they enjoyed on and off the property. Highly recommend if it’s your first time in the area and want some good information. Everything you need is there besides food. Didn’t feel like we needed to leave to get anything(although not really any place to close by). Great place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. We throughly enjoy and highly recommend. They have a lot of local classic movies that were filmed in the area too which I thought was pretty neat. We only watched one though because we were not there to watch movies haha.

True little house in the prairie…
Our stay was great! The property was well maintained and comfortable. It was so beautiful and peaceful—a wonderful escape from our life in Denver. It definitely reminded me of the Little House in the Prairie books I loved as a child. Location was good as well for what we went for—basically between Badlands and Mt.Rushmore. Owner was friendly and very communicative. Only complaint was that cell service was spotty and no WiFi—but honestly it was nice having an excuse to unplug. Highly recommend!

Little Sluce of heaven
Stayed about a week with my wife and mom and we absolutely loved it! So beautiful and peaceful! We used it as a base camp to tour Custer, Badlands and Sheep mountain. Karl was a pleasure to work with through booking and check in. They have a book with some great travel tips. Just about everything you need is in the cabin! It’s extremely remote but that’s exactly what we were looking for! Thanks for sharing your ranch with us!

A true getaway in the prairie!
We absolutely loved this charming and spacious ranch house right next to the badlands! It was the perfect location to enjoy and experience the quiet beauty of the area, and a great place to come back to after exploring the badlands and even the black hills which are about an hour away. It was our first time in South Dakota and the host left very useful tips to make the most of our vacation. Everything was clean and it was clear a lot of care went in to making everything comfortable. We would highly recommend staying here!

One of the most relaxing vacation experiences I’ve had in a while. My partner and I had an amazing time here and were able to enjoy the area for its beauty. We loved the stargazing and rock hounding area about 3 miles down the road.

Secluded and beautiful
The property was amazing. It was very private and secluded. The moon rising and setting blew me away! As did the sun rising and setting! The cabin was clean and well appointed. Very spacious and comfortable. The grounds were lovely to walk around and we enjoyed our neighbors (the cattle!). Not too far for day trips to The Badlands and Wall. The hosts left a really helpful booklet at the ranch with tips on what to see and where to go and they were spot on! There's also a booklet describing the history of the ranch and how it came to be. The front porch was my favorite place to sit and relax in between day trips. Rock hounding down the road was a lot of fun and the view is incredible.

The Ranch
What a wonderful place to stay. Karl was very helpful in answering all our questions and providing anything we needed. The quietness of the ranch was a real treat. All we heard were the cows mooing. We loved the solitude, and enjoyed watching the sunsets. We cooked all our meals and found that we had everything we needed. Thanks for sharing your place with us.

Peaceful ranch!
Amazing, peaceful ranch to get away from it all. Close to badlands and not far from Black Hills. Great homebase to hit the sights by day and relax in peace at night. The ranch had all we needed, owners had great suggestions, and they were quick to respond with questions.

Fantastic peaceful place
Fantastic experience staying here. Exceeded expectations. It is as good as the pics make it look - even better. House is fully equipped with things you might need to live on the ranch in case you forget anything, and the kitchen has all the tools you would need to cook a family meal. It really feels like a home, you can tell the owners care about the place. The furniture is very comfortable, and everything was clean. We lucked out with the weather, had clear skies and spent a night watching thunderstorms far off on the horizon as the sun set and the stars came out. Front and back porches were great. Its very remote and secluded. As long as thats what you’re looking for you wont be disappointed. Its 30+ miles to get to the main part of the Badlands Natl Park - as close as you can get without staying at a motel or campground in Wall - but right nearby are Sheep Mtn Table and the Indian Creek wilderness which actually were our favorite spots - both very quiet if you want to get away from crowds on the park road. It’s also closer to the Black Hills. A few things: the kitchen knife was unusably dull (could barely cut chicken) and we couldn’t get the gas oven lit, which might be user error (burners worked fine). Bring your own knife if you like to cook. Would have appreciated a head up about the water so I could buy some gallons - owners provided a tank and bottled water but we luckily brought our own 5gal jug that we filled at the park visitor center a couple times.

If you truly want a "getaway", this is the best place ever
I was looking for some solitude and a central location to explore the area. This was it! It was easy to take day trips to both the Badlands and to the Custer State Park area. The place was perfectly furnished and clean (which isn't always true when you look for a place in the country.) And although I was there on my own, it would be a fun and efficient place for a family vacation. AND, the views in every direction are amazing.

This was our honeymoon, and we were so delighted by all the subtle touches around the property. Great books, great spiritual reminders to relax, great movies, and great proximity to one of our favorite parts of the Badlands - Sheep Mountain. Very grateful for the all around positive vibe at this wonderful getaway.

Wonderful. All the little things...I forgot a hair dryer...no worries, one was provided. Bedding, beds, sofa and chairs all comfy, nice array of kitchen supplies, toiletries, books and ideas for day trips all appreciated:) We spent our days vigorously hiking and sight seeing, was a welcome relief to return to the property for an evening of board games and star gazing. Katl was readily available via text, I can't say enough positive things about our stay. Thank you from the McDaniels:)

Beautiful setting surrounded by miles of rolling hills and pastures. Located between the Black Hills and the Badlands, closer to the Badlands. Best to go prepared to make meals at the house, as restaurants are not close by. Kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed breakfasts on the covered front deck and dinners on the picnic table in back, watching the sunsets.

Great place for solitude
I spent four days at the property in Scenic. The name Scenic fits. It’s a beautiful corner of the world, just a few miles from Badlands National Park and Buffalo Gap grasslands. If you’re looking for a comfortable and peaceful place to unwind and recharge, I recommend this little house on the prairie. It’s right on the border of one of the most beautiful places on earth and the host had the place perfectly prepared. Great hiking and breathtaking beauty, with fossils laying right out in the open on cliff faces… no place like it for a retreat and a unique experience. Enjoyed my stay.
