This sesquicentennial family farm sits on 80 acres in southeastern Van Buren county. The two story house, built in 1876, retains its historic charm while providing modern amenities to create a comfortable gathering spot. There are six bedrooms that sleep 14 people and an upstairs living area that sleeps two more on a full sized futon. There are full bathrooms upstairs and down. The kitchen is sizeable and the large dining room has a table that seats 12.
In the back yard there is a swing set, slide and tire swing. There is a large barn built in 1900 surrounded by the house and about 2.5 acres of barn yard. Many activities are possible during a stay at our farm: telling stories around fire pit in the barn yard, riding bikes around the rural neighborhood, laying in the grass and gazing at the brilliant stars (the skies are really dark at the farm), tramping around the 80 acres (please don't disturb the crops during the growing season), games and sports in the yard, to name just a few.
Best of all, when you arrive at the farm your mind will start to slow down, your to do list will fade into the background and you can just be. However, for those who need to keep at least one foot in the modern world, though there is no TV at the farm, we do have fiber optic internet, so you can have best of both worlds.
The area is surrounded by multiple lakes and golf courses. The farm is located 8 minutes from Schoolcraft which has a grocery store and more sophisticated shopping is available in Kalamazoo, 25 minutes away. Lake Michigan is approximately 50 minutes away.
There are also 12 bicycles (including at least two children's bikes) for guests to ride around the rural roads surrounding the farm (helmets supplied as well).
Note: if you are interested in having a wedding or other event at the property using the barn and grounds, please message me and I will give you the price and other details.
Final note: I am requiring damage protection coverage, but feel free to contact me if you have questions about modifying that requirement.
