About this property

Have a Summer Holiday in Country Farmhouse

This sesquicentennial family farm sits on 80 acres in southeastern Van Buren county. The two story house, built in 1876, retains its historic charm while providing modern amenities to create a comfortable gathering spot. There are six bedrooms that sleep 14 people and an upstairs living area that sleeps two more on a full sized futon. There are full bathrooms upstairs and down. The kitchen is sizeable and the large dining room has a table that seats 12.

In the back yard there is a swing set, slide and tire swing. There is a large barn built in 1900 surrounded by the house and about 2.5 acres of barn yard. Many activities are possible during a stay at our farm: telling stories around fire pit in the barn yard, riding bikes around the rural neighborhood, laying in the grass and gazing at the brilliant stars (the skies are really dark at the farm), tramping around the 80 acres (please don't disturb the crops during the growing season), games and sports in the yard, to name just a few.

Best of all, when you arrive at the farm your mind will start to slow down, your to do list will fade into the background and you can just be. However, for those who need to keep at least one foot in the modern world, though there is no TV at the farm, we do have fiber optic internet, so you can have best of both worlds.

The area is surrounded by multiple lakes and golf courses. The farm is located 8 minutes from Schoolcraft which has a grocery store and more sophisticated shopping is available in Kalamazoo, 25 minutes away. Lake Michigan is approximately 50 minutes away.

There are also 12 bicycles (including at least two children's bikes) for guests to ride around the rural roads surrounding the farm (helmets supplied as well).

Note: if you are interested in having a wedding or other event at the property using the barn and grounds, please message me and I will give you the price and other details.

Final note: I am requiring damage protection coverage, but feel free to contact me if you have questions about modifying that requirement.
A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a Smart television is provided for your entertainment. The bathroom has a shower/tub combination and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Rehearsal dinner and stay
The property manager is Excellent! I cannot say enough about his communication and care for his vacationers. The barn, is a barn but with tables, chairs and decorations we were able to turn it into a beautiful rehearsal dinner for our child. Everyone fell in love with it. The location is very quiet, the house is old but well maintained and beautifully peaceful. I would highly recommend a stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and or if you need a place to host an event. Like I said Rolland is a gem to work with. Thank you for making our stay stress free.

Absolutely lovely spacious historical farmhouse
My little ones had plenty of space to run around and explore, which was fantastic. The AC was very functional once it got running (we are west coast folks who can’t handle humidity at all!). As we pulled up to the house the first night, my kids got to experience fireflies for the very first time! Absolutely gorgeous property! Very remote location, but we were still able to get pizza delivered! The location was actually very perfect, as it was walking distance to our family reunion! Rollie is a fabulous host! Very informative! We will absolutely be back again!

Wedding
This is a phenomenal place!! My husband and I decided last minute to get married within a month and picked this as a venue. The host was extremely communicative and made sure we knew where everything was, which amenities were available to us as well as just being an awesome host. We definitely recommend this place, and will definitely be back!

Perfect Countryside Wedding Space
We enjoyed an extended weekend stay to host our wedding party. The home is well maintained & tastefully decorated. What a beautiful historic property! The grounds are perfect for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception in the barn. Rollie was very responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Rural paradise
We chose this barn and adjacent large, historic house because we wanted some place comfortable to stay somewhat close to Corey Lake were we met up with extended family. It was easy to rent, communication was timely, very clean, and spacious. It was a gift to “get away” but still have internet access for emergencies. Do be careful driving in the area at night, it is all country roads (of course) so you need to be mindful of deer and raccoon.

Peaceful County Setting
We had a family of 13 staying for a long weekend and the house and property were set up perfectly to accommodate our group. There were enough beds/bedrooms for everyone to sleep comfortably and are so appreciative that the air conditioner was installed earlier this summer because it sure was a hot weekend in August. The old farmhouse brought up a lot of memories for my family from times spent with our grandparents/great-grandparents on their farm back in the day. Beds were very comfortable; kitchen and bathrooms were stocked well with the necessities.. The only thing that we feel was missing was a tv, but it is far from a deal breaker. The host was very detailed and available with information. We will definitely keep this house on our list of go-to's for the future.

Great wedding venue!
Rollie was kind enough to let us use his barn to hold a wedding ceremony and small reception. He went out of his way to make sure the space was ready for us. The property is so pretty and there is so much space to explore. The house was clean and had room for our bridal party to stay the night before. Everything went smoothly and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a non-traditional or traditional small ceremony and reception!

“Can we go back to our country farmhouse?” said my granddaughter-6.
3 generations stayed together in this beautiful, historical farmhouse. We enjoyed the coziness of being together, riding bikes, cooking, playing games, and unplugging with no TV but good WiFi. Beds were comfy, sheets and towels were new and the farmhouse had everything we needed. We enjoyed the old time feeling, but modern conveniences, too. It was cleaned to a very high standard for Covid. The owner, Rollie, communicated quickly, checked in to see how everything was, and a minor issues we had was taken care of quickly. If you want to experience life in the country, don’t hesitate to stay here.

Enjoy the Simple Life
Wanted somewhere to get away from the normal chaos to enjoy the simple life and have some quiet. Could not have found a better place to accomplish that. What a beautiful historic farmhouse and property! Had all the conveniences of modern living while the historic charm was maintained. Was perfect for our small group, but also would be great for large or multiple families/friends. Has fun exploring the barn, having a bonfire and swinging on the tire swing, playing baseball and soccer in the large yard. Took our bikes - and loved biking on the very low traveled dirt/gravel roads right around the property. Amazed by how many stars could be seen at night. Near quaint downtown Schoolcraft with a grocery store, but also close enough to Kalamazoo for more shopping options. Close enough to also drive over to Lake Michigan to some of the coastal towns to enjoy the beach for the day. Check in and out seamless and contactless. Communication with the property manager was better than any property I have ever stayed at. Appreciated the inquiries on how may stay was going, if there was anything I needed, and welcomed answering questions about the area and things to do near by! Definitely plan to return for another getaway at the property!!!
