This hotel was a real learning experience for my kids. They got to learn about second hand smoke, sex-work, drug trafficking, and dumpsters being used to blockade all of the broken exterior doors. That was just getting to our room from the "lobby." We'll see what the night holds for us. Sirens? Stabbings? Shootings? If you are already into all of these things, please note that you should still not stay here because they are all done better elsewhere.
UPDATE: Then, at 10:38 PM, my kids got to learn about evacuations because all of the building's alarms went off. We got to see squatters, sex workers, thwir clients, unhoused people, stray animals, and even a couple of paying guests milling through the hallways, emptying 1st floor rooms out of the windows, and... finally... one employee made their way to the front after 10 minutes of sirens, fire trucks, and other commotion.
