An apartment in the middle of Shrewsbury, with bar and restaurant, what more could you want!
Fantastic location in the heart of Shrewsbury, giving easy walking access to local attractions, restaurants and bars. Comfy bed, powerful rain-shower. Fabulous, cooked to order breakfast, served by friendly staff. Unfortunately we didn't get to sample dinner there as the restaurant and bar were closed due to Covid but I have no doubt that the food would be very good as we very much enjoyed our meal at their sister restaurant, the Loopy Shrew.
The building is old so a little quirky (uneven floors and low ceilings) meaning that our room was quite dark and very warm at night but it was very clean. We will certainly stay at Darwin's Kitchen when we visit Shrewsbury again.
It is located in the very centre of the town, in a very old building, within walking distance to everywhere.
The entrance was hidden by some parked vehicles, we could not stop there because other vehicles were following us on the one-way street, so we parked the car at the NCP carpark at the bottom of the hill. From there it was only a 5/10 min walk back.
The restaurant and the bar are closed “due to the covid” so we did the check in online and were given the pin no to open the door.
Our room on the top floor was cosy and tastefully decorated. The building is so old, the floor is uneven, so they put the bed on a plinth to enable horizontal sleeping. The room is nicely decorated and the new blends well with the old.
The bathroom is modernly equipped and the shower is surprisingly good.
Everything is clean.
The breakfast was good but it needs improving.
We enjoyed our very short stay here.
Enjoyed a nice stay here.just a pit stop to end our week off on ,lovely building, staff friendly food was very good taste. Breakfast was lovely and everything was covid 19 safe .would definitely revisit when weather is better.
Such a friendly wee place. Although it is not staffed at night, when the staff are there they cannot do enough for you. My room was really comfy, the bed was great.... I had one of the best night's sleep I've had in a while. Chocolate brownies waiting for me after a day out was such a lovely touch. Breakfast was delicious, with good choice for veggies and vegans, including fresh fruit. Wednesday is free jazz night in the bar, great to settle down with a cocktail and a bite to eat.
The hotel is 5 to 10 minutes walk from the railway station and is real,y well situated . St Mary's church is just across the road and the Abbey maybe 10 minutes walk away.

This was an excellent 4 day stay from the moment we arrived. We stayed b&b - the service and food was excellent and the staff were first class friendly and very helpful.
Booked this hotel suite at the last minute as we were going to be in the area visiting family. We were warmly welcomed and pleasantly surprised at the decor and attention to detail in the room. We were also charmed by the obvious history that the building has...including original oak beams and sloping floor in the lounge area! A lovely superking sized bed rested our weary souls after a late night out listening to some local musical talent. Wish we could have relaxed in the room for a bit longer to take full advantage of the facilities. We would highly recommend this as a place to stay and the wide ranging breakfast choice would suit virtually anyone.
