Great location, suitable for a short stay. Shower in room didn’t work, towel radiator was on full heat with no option to turn off. Fan in room only worked if room light was left switched on, not ideal for nightime. Breakfast was modest, few staff and buffet bowls generally low to empty, no bread for toast until requested. Generally an okay experience with plenty of room for improvement.

I had a lovely room with a four poster bed! The bathroom was shining. Breakfast was very nice. My only criticism, and its more of a question, is, what has happened to the residents bar in a hotel? We were in town for a family funeral and a few of us met up in the hotel bar after the formalities of the day, and the bar shut at 10.30pm. This is before even normal pub closing time. It used to be that when you were staying in a hotel you could stay in the bar as long as you liked. It's not that we wanted to stay up all night drinking, but it would gave been nice if we could have if we wanted!

Lovely stay great place but some staff seem very miserable and not clued up about what’s available, times, bookings, etc, but would stay again, staff training would really enhance the experience.

Beautiful property with so much going on, coffee and cake shop, quality restaurant, bars and lovely open space with Pizza oven and live music. The breakfast was amazing, great selections and service excellent. We went as a family of 4 adults and couldn’t fault it.

The hotel was more central than expected but you would have never noticed. Mainly because of the quietness. The staff were very helpful. We didn’t eat in the hotel as we were really there to visit relatives but from what we saw the food and service by the staff appeared to be very good.

Convenient, comfy and stylish breakfast
Super clean room with new bathroom, bedroom itself slightly dated but great value for the location. Breakfast is served in the great hall which feels posh, there’s a bar on site that’s always busy and a private car park. Top tip - parking is included when you book so don’t use the meter on arrival, you will receive a voucher at breakfast

We stayed here for 3 nights. This hotel was more expensive than the other hotel option in the city center, but was also a nicer, historic hotel with a pub, restaurant, and breakfast hall. The rooms are a little older, but comfortable and clean. We had 2 twins, giving us ample space for sleeping, but probably less place for luggage (we had a lot because we were touring the UK on a 2 week trip). The bathroom was fine, with a shower/tub combo and good storage in a drawer under the sink. We asked for a quiet room and were given #74, I believe. It was upstairs, and away from the hotel restaurant and a lively club next door. The breakfast hall, included with our stay, was ok, but nothing too extraordinary. It offered typical English breakfast foods, plus yogurt and fruit. Come early for the best selection, as the orange juice seemed to run out before closing, and seating was sparse on Saturday morning. The fault I could find was the coffee in the breakfast hall, which came with lots of grounds floating in it. One tip, the discount store next door has anything you would need like toiletries, and over the counter medications, as well as bottled water, for a great price.
