Break out on an adventure to some surrounding natural sights. 30 kilometres out of Silute, Kursiu Nerija National Park is just waiting to be explored. Vente Cape, 17 kilometres away, is another excellent place to find some peace and quiet.

Don't just watch sport on the television, live it at Klaipėda Švyturys Arena! Located 45 kilometres away in Klaipeda, it's a superb place to get your fix whether you're going for the home or away team.

The Amber Museum and the Neringa History Museum are near the centre of Neringa, 25 kilometres to the west of Silute. Why not make your way there and have a look?

Klaipeda sits 45 kilometres from Silute and is a vital part of the local region. Nearby attractions include Theatre Square, Klaipeda Castle and the New Ferry Terminal. Need more? History Museum of Lithuania Minor and Old Ferry Terminal are also within easy reach.

When it comes to relaxing, nothing tops heading out into the fresh air and going cycling or camping.

Not only is hot air ballooning a fantastic way to experience panoramic views of the landscapes below, it also offers thrills, excitement and the opportunity to soar like a bird!

Whether you're plunging into it, drifting on top of it or cruising across it, not much beats spending an afternoon by the water. You can try your hand at a few watersports here, including swimming and canoeing.

It's impossible to say just what you'll come across in the region's history museums and art galleries, but you can be confident it'll be fascinating!

For an outdoor activity that everyone will like, check out the surrounding area's open-air museums and open-air exhibits.

Delve into the region's lively past by checking out some of the nearby old towns and historic palaces. If a tour guide isn't around, do some of your own research.

Are you yearning for a little serenity? You might just find what you're looking for at Silute's churches.

Eating is one of life's biggest pleasures, and since you're reading this, we guess you think travel is too. Combine your excitement for both by getting out and trying the food and drink offerings at the bars, cafés and restaurants in town.

This area has a unique cooking style based on available ingredients and local tastes. Potato and rye are two common elements in much of the fare.

There's always a local plate or two you need to try, and during your stay in Silute, juoda duona (black rye bread) is certainly among them. Saltibarsclai (beetroot soup) is another much-loved dish that you'll want to keep an eye out for.

If you're not one to say no to dessert, you're not going to be disappointed. Be sure to try kūčiukai (baked rolls with poppyseed milk), a yummy treat that's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Seeking something a little more potent? You'll want to try Trejos Devynerios (liquor infused with 27 flavors). Ask the bartender if it's good in any mixed drinks. Failing that, request a shot glass and enjoy it straight!

Make good use of your transit time by practising a handful of words and phrases in the local tongue. 'Labanakt' translates as 'good night'. Another one to add to the memory bank is 'Geros dienos!', meaning 'have a nice day'.

If you're lucky enough to be in Silute on the 16th of February, get ready for some festivities! Independence Day sees crowds of locals getting out and about and celebrating.

Thankfully Silute isn't going anywhere, so this "Viso gero" doesn't have to be your last!

Security checkpoints, long lines and even longer walks to the boarding gate. Airports are often very stressful. Give yourself ample time to head to Lech Walesa Airport (GDN). Located 220 kilometres to the southwest, this is the closest terminal.

"Such a relaxing location. Lovely apartment. Once we understood the protocol, all went smoothly. We needed a stop to launder and rest. Three days isn’t long enough to wash AND dry, though, without an electric dryer, so the air dryer and the rain made it awkward. But that’s so unlikely a situation ..."

"If you're on a budget, it's a good place to stay. However, you need to make sure you've been in contact with the property prior to check-in to receive the needed information. Lack of parking was also a minus. Overall, very clean, quiet, and convenient."
