Sadly Disappointed
We've stayed at Alleghany Springs many times. We've never been disappointed or blown away with a unit so we've never left a review. Decided to try a new unit. I messaged owner about how many TV's but she wasn't sure and would find out. No response. After 4 1/2 hr drive, we couldn't check in, no reservation was made by host. I called host, left voice-mail, she called and made reservation right then. This 4 night stay was a chill getaway. Swim, jacuzzi, walks, firepit, fireplace and scary movies. I open the door and the musty, dirty smell was very overwhelming. Unpacked and put groceries away then noticed the floors were dirty in kitchen & living room and food was under cabinets. Hair in the bathtub, roll of toilet paper had been dropped in water and put back on dispenser, toothpaste splashed on the walls next to the sinks and balcony furniture was filthy. There were 3 TV's but 1 didn't work. I messaged host about issues, she apologized and assured me it had been cleaned but would send someone to clean next day but, we couldn't wait to have the issues resolved so, I cleaned the whole unit that night. She said she felt embarrassed and wanted to make it right. Said she'd refund a night and cleaning fee. Communication could have been better beforehand but, I greatly appreciated the quick responses when there were issues and that she was willing to try and resolve them. No resolution yet. Unfortunately, we wouldn't stay in this unit again.
