Very private - but isolated - open air villa
This was our second stay at Hermitage Jewel, so we knew what to expect. You should understand that the villa is at the top of a very steep, tall hill. Walking anywhere from there would be a challenge. You will either have to hire a driver or rent a car to go to restaurants or other places. If you hire a driver, confirm what the charges will be beforehand. Bring plenty of cash. It’s open-air, meaning exactly that. There are some screens on the windows but you will sleep under mosquito netting. The kitchen is rudimentary. A countertop oven would help. The one that is there doesn’t work. The main trouble we had was the lack of lights in the bedrooms. 2 very dim bulbs is not enough. The stairs going up to the master bedroom are poorly lit and “not to code”. If your eyesight is poor you should avoid them. Also, would be nice to have the pool heated a bit. It was too cold to use.In spite of all I’ve said, it’s a lovely place. You just have to know what to expect
