Old place with bugs
My stay at the resort was ok until I started seeing roaches after night 1. When we 1st arrived, I noticed that the property first appears nice in the lobby but upon closer inspection, once in the room, it’s clear that it needs some serious upgrades. Once the bugs started appearing, I wanted to check out immediately but I had already paid through a 3rd party. I would never book here again. However, If you like roaches, this is your place. 😕😒

A nice hotel with extra perks. Right on the beach and next to Clayton’s beach bar. So don’t expect quiet until after the bar closes. Better than most breakfast with made to order omelettes. A few things could be cleaner but overall it was ok. Be aware of the hot water. It was way too hot.

The property is trying to make up with the overpowering lavender cleaner the glaring deficiencies with maintenance: pealing of paint on guardrails and swimming pool, old wall plaster, weird rubber smudges on the toilet and around the base of the tub (the tub was also pealing off), sweet musty odor in the room, non functioning patio lights. Imprecise paint job all over. There is a big missed opportunity to clean windows, especially in the dining area (but decent and changing a bit daily breakfast foot options with on order omlet making). Some of the staff speaks only Spanish, even TV was set in Spanish. The nearby bar had a decent pricing eg $8 for a burger. Looks nice from the outside, but just a basic cheap by the interstate hotel on the inside. A big disappointment were wall ac units blowing heat on the patio - what’s the point of the full or partial ocean view to be exposed to that while seating outside…on a paint spotted patio and chairs.

The power was off for over 5 hours one morning , so we did not get the breakfast. This was the main reason i booked this hotel. The assistant general manager said he would not give any compensation for the power outage. They did not make one of the beds, because a blanket was on it. They did not take out the trash, because it was on the table wrapped in the bag. Theyvdid jot clean the bathrooms.

Fun short escape with a beautiful view.
It was a great escape with an ocean view. Noisy at night due to the live bands playing both sides of the hotel. But it’s fine with us, we sleep late. There’s a fireworks also, that was a lovely bonus. It’s an older hotel and also seen 2 crouches in the tub. We told the receptionist about it.

We have stayed here before, and we love how close this hotel is to the beach. However, on this occasion we reported that there was no hot water in the shower. Maintenance came to check and were only able to make the water lukewarm. The maintenance guy told us that was as hot as the water gets. Breakfast is good, and the people are nice, but the building is starting to show its age.

FAIR STAY
The employees are very friendly, but since the hotel switch from La Quinta to Sand Rose it doesn’t hold up to the same standards. The levels of Clorox almost blinded me. I saw a white cloud for a couple of hours. The pool was freezing. The store is not longer open 24hrs. The pool needs to be painted. The elevator broke and there was no sign. I was there for 10 minutes. The waves were up to the stairs maybe related to the storms on the gulf, but there was no sign and kids wanted to go play. The waves were super strong with debris and super dark. The hotel is pet friendly and restaurant has good prices. La Quinta painted before changing the name and the paint was chipping all ready giving the impression is old. My little daughter called the operator for breakfast hours and I guess they were super busy because they hung up on her. Also I reported room 215 the shower head had issues and they promised to go and check, but they never went. I had a feeling the maintenance personnel was in charge of the pool instead of professionals because when we came home and found my daughters googles they were hard with chlorine dust crust around them

My husband and I have stayed in rooms located in 3rd world countries that were better maintained and cleaner than the room we had. We opted for the king room 243 ocean view costing us $275 a night, which was not worth half. The bed had hospital sheets for covers that were so thin, the pillows were barely fluffed and looked like they have seen better days, there were stains on the bed sheets that most likely didn’t wash out (why don’t they just throw them out and buy new ones at this point??) the unit AC was so old that the room was always humid, and the pool was so small and pathetic. The couch was greasy looking that we had to cover it during our entire stay. There was also dust all over the appliances that we had to go to the nearest Walmart to buy Clorox wipes since we couldn’t trust the cleaning service at this point. Now to the bathroom: the tub was peeling and had hair in it from previous people. It was so gross that we had to shower in our sandals. Room service is not available after a certain time so when we had asked for extra covers for our bed, they told us to come get them from the front desk. Breakfast was decent, better than most 3 star hotels, but nothing to write home about. At that price per night the least we expect is cleanliness and well kept maintenance. All in all, we would never come here again. Should have opted for the Hilton instead.
