Staré Hory is a place with stacks of cool stories to tell. If you reckon your life's been a bit dull lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

The nation's capital, Bratislava, is situated roughly 170 kilometres to the southwest of Staré Hory.

The splendour of Mother Nature can be witnessed in numerous places around Staré Hory. Just 40 kilometres away, Liptovsky Mara is a good place to start. Demanovska Jaskyna Slobody sits 40 kilometres away and is another popular spot for some peace and quiet.

There's nothing like racing out of bed making your mark on a pristine slope at Strbske Pleso. Once you've experienced all the runs there, pack up your gear and test your skills at Mount Gubalowka Ski Resort.

Searching for lots more things to see and do? Go to Špania Dolina, 3 kilometres south of Staré Hory, for the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising and The Town Castle Area. Alternatively, Horny Harmanec is 5 kilometres to the southwest, and it's here you'll find The Clock Tower and Banska Bystrica's Town Fortifications.

Sitting 25 kilometres to the south, Sliac is a place that has something for everyone. Borova Hora Arboretum, the Forestry and Timber Museum and the Golf and Country Club Hron are all pretty close. That said, Zvolen Church and Ludovita Stura Park may be more your thing.
