Netherlands' capital city, Amsterdam, sits roughly 120 kilometres to the southwest of Suameer.

Head over to Menaldum, 20 kilometres away, and experience Planetarium. Other notable attractions here include the Het Princessehof.

Remember to bring a hamper so you can enjoy lunch by the water at Nes Beach or Callantsoog Beach.

You don't need to be stuck inside a car all day to experience some nature. Just 50 kilometres out of Suameer, De Boschplaat is an excellent place to kick back and unwind. More idyllic surrounds await at Lauwersmeer National Park, 25 kilometres away.

Venture 40 kilometres east to Euroborg to catch an exciting live game of soccer. Located in Groningen, the stadium is the home of the FC Groningen, so dress in green and white and get set to cheer!

Venture outwards and find out what's happening in Hoogzand, 4 kilometres to the east. Many travellers come here for the De Kruidhof Botanical Gardens and the De Brink Agricultural Museum. Alternatively, Noardburgum is 5 kilometres to the north of Suameer. Visit this locality for easy access to the Aqua Zoo Friesland and the Groene Ster Golfclub.

Leeuwarden, 13 kilometres to the west, is worth a day trip. Use it as a port of call when swinging by Grote Kerk, the Friet Museum and Waagplein. If you're still not convinced, other nearby sights include Oldehove and the Fries Natuurmuseum.
