Had a lovely stay, very convenient to get to the Opera House for a concert, to restaurants. Delicious buffet breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommend.

The staff front desk staff and concierge are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are a bit scuffed with age but the underlying quality is apparent. The location is excellent. You can enjoy anything along Curcular Quay and walk back to the hotel, the area is very safe. You are also right across from the botanical gardens.

We always choose to stay at the Sir Stamford when visiting Sydney. Nice staff, conveniently located and comfortable. Starting to show her age a bit around the edges but I would hate to see a total makeover. The faded glory is part of the charm

Unfortunately, this hotel, whilst it used to be a firm favourite for us has become a bit of a 'has been'. The furnishings are now just tired and unloved. Bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and could definitley benefit from an update. Our room was smelly and stuffy. So disappointing that no love is going into keeping these rooms maintained.

The exercise bike and elliptical in the fitness room were broken, but the incredible staff, the ambiance (a mixture of 19th century elegance and 21st century technology) and the location made up for it. I would love to stay here again.

Location, location, location
Wow, an amazing base from which to explore Sydney. Location is 10 stars. Breakfast was great. “Concierge” services were generally far below what one would expect at this price point, although it was truly hit or miss. Miss: We asked about a harbor cruise, and the concierge basically point at a stack of brochures. Hit: We asked a different concierge about a harbor cruise, and he helped us book it right then and there, with numerous options and even printed the confirmation and put it under our door so we didn’t have to carry it around all day. The “miss” was basically 2/3 of the people we dealt with in that position, need some new training. A concierge should be very familiar with the city and the questions travelers ask.
