We travel to Taiwan from our home in North America to visit my wife's family in Taipei. We are curious about Tainan, and travelled here on the HSR. Our cousin suggested the Shangri La to stay since it is immediately adjacent to the regular train station and convenient to the bus routes. We have stayed here twice now to visit Tainan and get to know the city. The hotel is outstanding. The staff is excellent. The breakfast offered with the room is substantial. The rooms are neat .. clean .. and well appointed. We plan to use the hotel as our base of operations to explore more of southern Tainan in future trips.

Amazing stay!
The Shangri-La Far Eastern Tainan was the nicest hotel I've stayed at in a while. Staff were quick and friendly and helped us with any questions. The room was very spacious and had a great view of the city. Overall, we will definitely be back.

For a five star rated hotel I expected more attention to detail. I found stray hairs in the bathroom when we checked in. When we asked for a replenishment of nespresso coffee pods, they said they could only provide two at a time. Given that our reservation was for three people this seems inappropriate and unsatisfactory. The hotel Internet is unsecured.
