A transit type of hotel. The ones you would use for a night or two at most. Not meant for long stays and espescially not meant for families. Popular because of its location. Makes it super convenient but in terms of comfort it is lacking. Walls are thin and you can hear noise in the hallway and patrons coming back at 2-3AM. The room disposition and design is heteroclite.. things felt like an after thought in arrangement or design construction which made it very impractical and awkward (light switch for the bathroom, light for the mirror, couch location, the loud fan blowing straight in your face when in bed, etc). Laundry was nice.

Excellent location and value for no-windows rooms
I booked a multi-week stay at Mayer Inn in 2024 after having completed a multi-week stay here in 2023. And I'll probably consider Mayer Inn again for my next trip. The rooms are clean although the finishings are basic and a little worn. As a conversion of multiple floors in a commercial building, there's a lot of interior floor space. So room pricing is excellent if you're willing to select one of the rooms without windows. Location is excellent: since last year there's been additional development of basement floors so you can now go from your hotel room all the way into Taipei Main Station (both the train station or the MRT metro station for Red and Blue Lines or the Airport MRT metro station) without ever going outside, a nice plus when the weather might be some combination of hot, gusty, and rainy. There's a 24-hour Family Mart in the ground floor of the building, several ATMs, and just outside are many stores, restaurants, food stalls, etc., catering to students attending tutoring classes in the neighborhood. One minor downside is that there isn't a full sized supermarket nearby.

Location is EXTREMELY convenient to everything (shopping, eating, airport, other modes of transportations since this is the main station). The hotel staffs are EXTREMELY helpful and friendly!! I like the fact that they are willing to speak English and their wanting to help in anyway they could. I also check in around 11pm at night so the staff are so calm and chill too.

It is connected to Taipei main station by basement 3. No shelf space to put things, small coffee table and food crumbs can easily drop on the dirty looking carpet, no hangers in the toilet.
