Langholm, Stumpy Lane; a serene retreat in the bush.
The Break We Were Looking For
5 / 5
My friends and I stayed here for five nights in the height of Summer. The house was large and comfortable, with great air conditioning when you wanted to escape the heat and a lovely enclosed space for when you wanted to soak in the summer warmth. The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and the water pressure in the shower was incredible.Outside, the property offers views in all directions and we wandered often. The remnants of previous farming enterprise was fascinating, giving a strong impression of links to the past while the abundance of wild animals added to the experience. Our nights were spent around the fire and scanning the stars, with one exception when we watched a storm roll past, lightning flashing and grumbling for hours. The location of the house allowed us day trips to the Warrumbungles and Siding Springs observatory, the Pilliga Bore and other sights. Baradine is the closest town, where you can pick up a few supplies and have a drink or meal at the pub. I would suggest bigger shopping at Coonabarabran. The hosts were welcoming and attentive, striking a careful balance between checking in with us and leaving us to our holiday. I thoroughly recommend this stay.
