You don't need to travel too far to discover some impressive natural sights. Find a set of wheels and make your way to Crazy Horse Memorial, 20 kilometres away from The Black Hills, for a laid-back day. Or perhaps Jewel Cave National Monument is more to your taste? It sits just 30 kilometres away.

The sprawling snowy landscapes of Terry Peak Ski Area and Deer Mountain Ski Area offer a world of fun for powder hounds. Strap on your skis and shred the fresh pistes.

Want even more attractions? Head to Hill City, 15 kilometres east of The Black Hills, for the Wade's Gold Mill and the Museum @ Black Hills Institute. Alternatively, Custer is 25 kilometres to the southeast, and it's here you'll discover Grand Magic Show and Sylvan Lake.

Spearfish, 55 kilometres to the north, is a great day trip. Use it as a port of call when visiting the Black Hills State University, the D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Spearfish Canyon North Entrance. If you'd like more convincing, other nearby sights include the High Plains Heritage Center Museum and the Matthews Opera House & Arts Center.

Looking for something active? For an unforgettable journey through the region's landscapes, try out some mountain biking or rock climbing.
