Title says it all. House was a mess at arrival . Had not been cleaned in very long time. Cabinets filthy, black dust out of every vent. Dishes/silverware thrown in the cabinet, cleaned?? No laundry soap for linen, again sheets cleaned?? Bugs/mosquitoes smashed on the wall. Mouse droppings on carpet & kitchen counter.
Worst part: a mouse ran across home to master bedroom & climbed into the master bed. Stripped sheets, went to Lowe’s bought traps. Awoken around midnight by noises in bathroom. Found mouse caught in the trap, & had to dispose of it myself.
Contacted owner, Kim, told her about the situation, she asked how to make it right. I requested refund for the night. Said she would investigate, but later argued she’d refund the cost of the night, but no fees, a $70 difference. I pushed for refund for the night including the fees but she declined.
VRBO was great, problem was escalated to supervisors, they refunded me their fees and a partial refund of the cleaning fee. Kim continued, to the very end, to refuse to refund me my true cost for the 1 night, even though I caught a mouse in her home for her. Blown away at unwillingness to see & understand what the renters were going through. I wish I could post photos of conditions & mouse on website for future renters, because this is not a home that should be listed for rent.
RENTERS BEWARE, owner is beyond difficult. I highly recommend you do not rent this property.
