I cannot fault the property or the food; however, the staff were not attentive, and the overall level of customer service did not reflect what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. I reported a flickering light in the bathroom of my room, and the receptionist informed me that nothing could be done until the next guest arrived. This left me feeling unimportant compared with future guests, and it made it difficult to get ready the following morning. Additionally, the restaurant staff spoke very loudly, as though they were in the kitchen rather than in front of guests. When I approached a member of staff with a question, she told me that her colleague would be with me shortly instead of assisting me herself. All I wanted to ask was whether the hollandaise sauce contained cream. She eventually returned to explain their process of taking drink orders before food orders, but the interaction did not feel guest-focused or accommodating. Overall the staff are not friendly and not accomodating.

Stayed in the Dick Turpin suite, large room with wonderful bath in a separate space from the bathroom. All staff very professional and friendly. Good menu so booked a meal on arrival which was good value as well as tasty. Good size car park. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Lovely hotel & the room was also lovely.. not a large room but everything you needed you in the room. Very comfortable bed plenty of towels .enough coffee / tea & bottle water. We had a lovely two night stay our room was large with a huge comfortable bed. It was in a great location, very central with parking at the back of the hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful, overall a great stay we would definitely stay here again when next in the area.

The staff were exceptional as we had gone to visit a very poorly friend. Our plans changed yesterday and today hourly and we were allowed to stay in their carpark until we left just after 2 pm. Our friend is home from hospital but have not had chance to catch up but we enjoyed our time in Thirsk a beautiful place great for shopping

Our stay at the Golden Fleece was great! Easy check-in, lovely room. Food in the evening was great but we didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Easy walkable distance to James Herriot’s house. Parking very easy and felt secure! All in all very nice.

Safe parking at premises. Great welcome at reception. Cosy room with all amenities. Lovely bar/lounge with wide choice of teas, coffees, cakes - perfect for afternoon tea. Dinner menu excellent and imaginative and food perfectly cooked and beautifully presented in very comfortable dining room. The fire alarm went off at about 6pm and we were all evacuated to the muster point in the car park. Staff were very professional and efficient in directing us to fire escapes and checking that all guests were accounted for. It turned out to be a false alarm but I would praise the staff very highly for the way they handled it and looked after us so efficiently. We had a wonderful night’s stay at the Golden Fleece and would certainly go back again if we were in the area.

Great location, our room was massive, if i had to pick a fault, the shower cubicle could be a big bigger, theres wasnt much room to move in it. Certainly wouldnt stop us from returning though. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of chouce on the menu. Free secure parking at back of the hotel.
