The hotel that COULD be nice but sadly fails to it
Very dissapointing. The terrace in the picture is only accessible for one client and needs to be reserved. The mattrass was old, tired and I could feel the springs. The room that I was given (smoking) was not the one I bought (non smoking) . After complaining, I was oriented to another one. There is no bar in the hotel available. The lobby has a nice view and when I asked to order a drink there, I was told that they do not serve drinks in the lobby. If so, then fine for me. However at night, the hotel advertises a movie session in the lobby with free drinks available. I was puzzled. The room was very old with a very tired decoration. I would recommend people going there to opt for the japanese type of room. Breakfast was okay and the view was very nice. However, it is overpriced for the service offered. We did not feel like staying in the hotel and stay out most of the time. Only came back to sleep.
The breakfast was very good. Also we were quite enjoying outdoor and indoor onsens. Moreover we could saw the sunrise which is incredible view from the hotel. Recommend to stay here.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
The staff were great, but they do not speak much English so be prepared with a translator like Google translate app. The food was great and there was definitely a lot of it. Our room was amazing with the bath and ocean views, very clean and well stocked with a mini fridge and toiletries.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Good scenery but bad service. I couldn’t eat any dinner at this hotel
Great hotel with a fantastic view and excellent fo
Communication from the hotel staff was excellence. They were concern whether we need a pick up from the train station which is almost 15mins drive away. And also our estimated arrival time. I found this to be standard practice across all the top rate hotel/ryokan in Japan. The view from the window is just amazing even though we arrived too late to catch the sunset. The onsen bath would be just average but it is a good place for relaxation after a full day on road. The male and female bath location are swapped in day time and night time so you got to enjoy both. The outdoor bath does take some walking in the cold. The set dinner would be above average which is a great deal. Note you can't find any convenience stores around. The nearest restaurant is about 15mins walking all the way down to the nearby fishing harbour. The painful part of course is the walking back up slope. I'm sure you would consider that as a challenge.
We specifically asked for a no smoking room. On arrival we find that there is no such thing in this hotel.
Solution? Open the windows and door to the balcony and let fresh air circulate. Smell is acceptable after a few hours.
Overall upkeep and maintenance is not up to what we have come to expect in Japan.
Had problems communicating in English. Staff are willing to help but unable to do so because language problem.
For the price we paid we thought that the kaiseki meal was more quantity than quality. Breakfast was fine.
The big plus is the fabulous view of cliffs, mountains and sea from our room.
With a major make-over and some English speaking staff, this could be a really nice place to stay.
