Welcome to Tofte Cove on Lake Superior in Tofte, MN. You'll be amazed by the private cove as it encompasses an incredible, private shoreline. Enjoy a bonfire by the water or relax on the expansive deck and watch the sunset...or the sunrise for those early risers! There are two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the main level and a family room with a comfortable sofa sleeper and 3/4 bathroom on the lower level. There are decks on both levels, a beautifully landscaped yard and everything you'll need to enjoy a phenomenal vacation. The kitchen has been recently remodeled with new countertops, a new backsplash and all new appliances. There's a nice open layout so everybody can enjoy time together. The living room is comfortable and spacious and has a nice fireplace to cozy up to. There is also a gas grill, a lakeside firepit and adirondack chairs to further enjoy the outdoors!
The town of Tofte is just minutes from the Lutsen Ski Resort, Superior National Golf Course and a short drive from the city of Grand Marais, "America's Coolest Small Town in America". This property is strictly an animal-free zone due to severe allergies.

Purely serene
This place is nearly perfect and the owners take pride in this property. They provide so many amenities down to the toilet paper. One thing to take note is that the cove is completely private and you are the only one that can access it from the property. Be aware this is a strenuous walk down to thr cove and back up will give you a workout. Totally worth it though. The rocks get slippery with algae so tread carefully. One improvement I would recommend is put A/C in the house even though it’s not hot weather here often we had 80’s and 90’s for a few days and the house was uncomfortable. We were expecting cooler weather but it was warmer than usual this year. Aside from that this is by far the best Vrbo we have rented and would recommend to anyone. Thank you to the host for your care in providing us the opportunity to stay in your amazing lake house.

The house was so clean and the rooms were bigger than it looked in the pictures. It had a very warm and inviting feel with such a great view! We had all the amenities we needed and really enjoyed our stay. I'd definitely book this house again!

Girls trip-Halloween
Four of us wanted to get away from everybody. Two of my friends walked in and stated they were never leaving! What a beautiful spot!! It’s was too chilly for us for the bonfire (Halloween weekend) but the gas fireplace kicked out some flames. I expect we will re-book & my friends will bring their families on a different trip.

The North Shore has long been "our place." We usually stay at a resort named after a kind of tuna but decided to try something different this year, and we were completely blown away by this property. The kitchen was amazing. The view was amazing. The private cove was amazing. The privacy and seclusion was amazing. I completely recommend it, without any reservations. We were completely "wowed."

Perfect location!
We didn't take our senior dog to the North Shore this year so that opened up other options for places to stay. Tofte Cove was perfect for us. We used the grill every night and ate dinner on the deck overlooking the lake. We love going biking and bought our bikes up this year. It is only about a 6 mile ride to the winery on the Gitchi gami trail (house is right on the trail). Close to the grocery store, Coho cafe and Sawbill outfitters (for canoe rental etc.) The owner had suggestions for hikes and places to eat. It was just my husband and myself but the home has plenty of room for more people. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor. The smaller bedroom has a double bed and a single. You would share the main floor bath with the primary bedroom. Perfect for a family. The downstairs room has a sleeper sofa and a view of the lake along with a small bathroom with a shower. If coming with a second couple, you could have separate spaces/bathrooms. Our only trouble was knowing where to turn left when driving back from Grand Marais. We missed it every time. GPS was slightly off. Having a decorative flag would be helpful near the mailbox. Highly recommend staying here! Perfect stay!

Our 3rd summer stay!
Once again, we very much enjoyed the accommodations at Tofte Cove. This is our third time staying here as a family. Grounds and property are lovely, the view of the lake is awesome, and the house is clean, comfortable and well-appointed with many amenities. The one thing I would suggest is to upkeep the lawn mowing on the path down to the cove- it was very overgrown and hard to navigate. The cove is a special spot and highlight of this property!

It is hard to elaborate more on the already published five-star reviews of this property, for all of those provide witness to the wonderful place this is and its positive impact on a visit to the North Shore. This location is really a retreat from the noise and bustle of Chicago. This oasis hits all of the right notes for a vacation rental. The sense of space makes one feel free, the gardens calm, the quiet restores, the many details create a sense of security and hospitality. The week was really an opportunity to connect with an old friend and catch up on the past years. Nothing disappointed; everything added to the experience. While s small item, I do want to point out something that really enriched the time….the couches in the living room area. So comfortable that the hours passed without a hint of having been seated too long. Really helpful for the long conversations and the sometimes reading which passed during the stay. The owners were very attentive and welcoming. They could not have been more helpful.
