The balcony room at the newer The Okura Heritage is stunning, with the best of amenities. The staff is hit and miss, while some are old school polite, many of them gave me the impression they did not like American guests, as the responded quite differently to the Japanese guests. The breakfast is slightly below average with limited options. I absolutely savor Japanese cuisine and found the recommended set menu at the Yamazato restaurant quite laking. However, the staff was wonderful and the view onto the garden nice. I would stay here again because of the rooms and simply accept that the overall politeness has faded over the years, or American tourists are tolerated, at best.

Okura Tokyo is my favorite hotel in Japan. The service is flawless, and the rooms are five-star quality. Since there are so many foreign embassies in the area, and the staff speaks English exceptionally, I think that foreigners will feel especially welcome. I strongly recommend a room with a bath view. Most other five-star hotels don't even offer these.

Wonderful hotel with impeccable service, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful and was a very quiet place to relax after busy days exploring Tokyo, and our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable with amazing views. The breakfast buffet was also excellent. Would definitely recommend if you want a special stay in Tokyo!

Nice Hotel but Not Worth It
The bottomline is that it was a very nice stay at the Okura Tokyo, but not worth its price tag of close to US$800 a night. For half of its price, there are many great hotels available in the nearby and surrounding areas in Tokyo.

Timeless elegance in Tokyo
The Okura was a 10/10 stay for my family and I. The hotel oozes luxury and elegance in every way. There was truly a sense of peace and calm as soon as you entered the lobby. However, the most appealing feature are the staff there. There is a helping hand, warm welcome or friendly smile in every interaction. It really lives up to traditional Japanese courtesy, which accompanies its spacious and luxurious rooms. Ours had amazing views of Tokyo, the Tokyo Tower and partial views of Tokyo Skytree. Location was walking distance to several Metro stations, e.g. Ginza line, Hibiya line. If you don’t mind walking then the Imperial PaIace and Gardens are not too far. I feel like I have really found our go-to sanctuary in busy Tokyo.
