Cattle Stop

Staying on a working farm looking nestled among paddocks full of cattle or sheep is something very special you will write home about. Happy if you are travelling along, with children or a couple. If you are part of a bigger group we also have the sheep's retreat just up the road. We do discourage pets for the protection of our animals but you will be see cattle in very room.
There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a microwave. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a DVD player is provided for your entertainment. The bathroom has a shower and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a phone, as well as an electric kettle and a washing machine.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.

Loved the Cattle Stop.
The Cattle Stop is such a beautiful place to stay. We arrived to an inviting, welcoming cottage. Clean, spacious and easy to heat, and nice outdoor seating area. Julie was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. The highland cattle in the paddock next door was an extra treat and the little calf so sweet. Epic.

Excellent stay! Beautiful location. We were amazed to see the southern Aurora lights..what an experience!! We also enjoyed talking to the highland cows right next door. Will definitely be back.

This property was amazing. We loved our stay, such a wonderful experience and just the long weekend we needed to spend out of the city with family. Planning to come back, it’s a destination for rest and relaxation, within reasonable distance to beautiful cafes in local towns.

We all had a wonderful night at the Cattle Stop. Even the rain didn't dampen our time. Loved all the cattle decor. Bug zapper or flyspray would be a good addition to supplies, as we had the windows open while we were cooking tea and we were invaded. In the mornings the fantails must have known as they came the house for a visist and feast.

Couldn't be better

Great wee cottage
What a wonderfully peaceful spot. The lovely cottage had everything we needed and we enjoyed seeing the cattle, both pictures and toys, wherever we turned. A nice touch.

We had the best time at the Cattle Shed! Beautiful surrounds, gorgeous highland cows, and a lovely spacious and character-filled cottage for our family of 4. Everything we needed for a great long weekend, and highly recommended as a base to explore the region.

Peaceful setting
Enjoyed our stay at Cattle Stop. Peaceful setting, comfy bed and ideal for families. We all loved the cows (inside and outside). Close to Whanganui and Marton making the location a great base for a holiday in the area.

Peaceful farm stay with beautiful outlook
We had a great stay on the farm at Turakina. We ended up staying in the Sheep's Retreat instead of Cattle Stop after a booking mix up which our host sorted out for us quickly and professionally. The location is outstanding, with beautiful views, clear night skies and wildlife to watch from the deck. The house is well equipped, especially the wood burner with plenty of fuel at the ready. Really appreciated the fresh coffee and breakfast supplies. We would love to stay again and share the place with more friends.

Nice stay off the beaten track
Julie's place is a nice, quiet place to stay. The property was very clean, well supplied and furnished, and easy to find from the road, with plenty of on-site parking. Julie's communication was good throughout and we had everything we needed when we were staying. Definitely recommended to other travellers.
