Holidays in Uhana

Your last proper vacay feel like it was light years ago? Easy — book a ticket to Uhana and you'll be heading off in a jiffy!

The well-known city of Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is within reach of Uhana. You'll find this busy centre 200 kilometres to the west.

Does a sunset with the sparkling sea as your backdrop sound appealing? Then organise a visit to Arugam Bay Beach, 60 kilometres to the south.

Buddhangala Monastery and the Mahaavaapi Maha Viharaya Temple are not far from the middle of Ampara, 10 kilometres to the south of Uhana. Why not go there and have a gander?

About 40 kilometres to the north, Batticaloa is a place with lots to offer visitors. The Aanaipanthi Temple, the St Michael’s College and St Mary’s Cathedral aren't that far away. Keep in mind, Dutch Fort and the Auliya Mosque may be more your style.

Your eyes shouldn't have all the fun while you're in Ampara District. Give your taste buds a little attention as well by trying out some of the local food and drink. After all, you can't say you've truly experienced a place until you've tasted its flavours.

Wondering about a few of the surprises you'll discover on your dinner plate? There's a high chance they'll include chicken, beef or even both.

While in Uhana, dine like a local. That means sampling a plate of kiribath with onion samba (milk rice) or vegetarian kottu (stir fried mix), two of the area's culinary specialties.
