Vara is a place that has loads of cool stories to tell. If you feel like your life's been a bit vanilla lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

It sits 320 kilometres southwest of Stockholm, the national capital of Sweden.

You don't need to go too far afield to enjoy some outstanding natural sights. Jump in the car and follow your GPS to Lake Hornborga Nature Reserve, 40 kilometres away from Vara, for a chilled-out day. Or perhaps Brobacka Nature Reserve is more your thing? It's located just 45 kilometres away.

Search for bargains or do a bit of memento shopping at Conditori Nordpolen.

Leave a plume of white powder in your wake as you race down the trails at Isaberg Ski Resort. Powder hounds should also check out Amals Ski Center.

Looking for more things to see and do? Go to Herrljunga, 20 kilometres south of Vara, for Herrljunga Church and Hudene Church. Alternatively, Skara is 30 kilometres to the northeast, and it's here you'll come across Skara Cathedral and the Skara Railway Museum.

St. Nicholas Church, the Rorstrand Museum and Limtorget Square are all quite close to Lidkoping, 30 kilometres to the northeast. Need some more reasons to swing by? The Vanern Museum and Rörstrand Fabriksbod aren't far away either.
