We had contacted Hotels.com for assistance before our trip as we could not contact the hotel to get our booking in code, as the hotel had written to us telling us that if we didn’t arrive before 18.00 hours they would re-sell our room. Many thanks for sending us the code as we would have been lost without it. We changed our ferry to get there earlier, but when we arrived there was no one on reception. We checked into our room and found to our horror that it had not been made up after the previous occupant. After waiting for reception for about 30mins we went to the other B and B hotel across the road. The man on reception was very impatient with us and reluctantly gave us the code to access another room. That too had not been changed after the previous occupant. At the third attempt we were given a room which was ready for use. Inside the room which we were able to use was an information sheet telling us that reception was closed for refurbishment and we should go across the road for help. Strange that the receptionist in the other hotel did not seem to know this. An absolute catalogue of errors which were very unwelcome after a long drive from Calais. The room itself was fine, but the systems and customer service were sadly lacking. We will not be returning.
