We had the good fortune to select the Hotel Ca Vendramin in located in the Cannaregio neighborhood of Venice. This beautiful hotel is in a 15th century palazzo that is located on a quiet and serene canal. There are a total of 15 rooms in the hotel and as soon as we entered the hotel, we felt as if we were staying in someone’s home.
Our room was located on the 2nd floor of the hotel with a view to a shared courtyard. It also had a spacious seating area where we could unwind after a hectic day in Venice. Just outside of our room was a large room that my wife and I called the “Great Room.” It had comfortable chairs and an impressive dining room table in the middle.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel like welcome guests. Allesandro, Michela, Benedetta and the rest of the staff were gracious, accommodating and most importantly, made us feel welcome and appreciated. Michela always had a smile on her face when we came down for breakfast and by the 2nd day she immediately prepared two tea pots for us because we are not coffee drinkers. The entire staff takes pride in this hotel and it shows in how their guests are treated. If I could give them more that 5 stars, I definitely would.
It is a five to seven minute walk to the vaporetto stop at Ca Oro and the Rialto Bridge is about 15 minutes from the hotel. There are a number of great dining options nearby and the front staff is happy to give you a recommendation or even make a reservation for you.
