The CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE is just waiting for you. At the crossroads of hiking trails (GR65 / via Gebennensis on the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela), in a green setting, the gîte is ideal for family gatherings, friendships, training courses or other events requiring a serene setting, just 35 minutes from Grenoble and 1 hour from Lyon and Chambéry.
The 340 m2 building, which sleeps 14, was rebuilt in stone on the upper part of the former monastery founded in 1116 and partially destroyed during the French Revolution.
As soon as you enter, you'll be seduced by the vaulted living/dining room and the beautiful staircase leading to the left wing of the first floor. On the ground floor, you will also find the recently modernised kitchen, a large vaulted room with table tennis and board games, 2 separate WCs and a chapel inviting you to rediscover the spirituality of the place.

The kitchen and games room open onto the outside, giving you direct access to the gîte's garden in fine weather for convivial outdoor meals.
On the first floor of the left wing, you will find 1 shower room, 1 bathroom and 4 bedrooms: 1 with 1 bunk bed 2 x 90 and 2 beds 90 (SAFRAN), 1 with 2 beds 80 that can be joined (INDIGO), 1 with 2 beds 90 that can be joined (MALACHITE) and one with 1 bed 160 (INCARNAT). On the first floor of the right wing, you will find 1 shower room and 3 bedrooms: 1 with 1 single bed (POURPRE), 1 with 1 double bed (GARANCE) and 1 with 1 single bed + 1 cot (GENETS).
The GARANCE, POURPRE, MALACHITE, INDIGO and SAFRAN rooms have a space with a washbasin for a small toilet.
The 2 shower rooms and the bathroom were completely renovated in 2024. The bedding was also replaced in 2024.
The property is connected to fibre/WIFI.
The thick walls keep the building cool in summer. In winter, the fireplace is the perfect place for a cosy fire in this timeless setting.

Bed linen and towels not included.
As an option, beds can be made up on arrival: fixed price of EUR 16 incl. tax/double bed and EUR 14 incl. tax/single bed. Please let us know before your arrival if you require this additional service.
Hotel cleaning.
Weekly rental only during the summer season.
No noisy parties permitted (caretaker's accommodation adjoining).
No smoking inside.
Cot, high chair, changing table, potty and adaptor provided on request.
Washing machine and ironing facilities available.
Accommodation not suitable for people with reduced mobility
The CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE is not connected to the drinking water network. Its water supply comes from a spring. Bottled water is recommended for drinking.

The CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE is an entire dwelling. It is a 1-storey house, adjoining that of the estate caretaker. You have your own entrance and a garden in front of the house, which is protected from view but not entirely enclosed.
There is free public parking right in front of the house.

##Notes
The CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE opens its doors to the public after many years of closure. Major works have been undertaken but there is still a lot to do. Some of the rooms are still in their original state, but they will gradually be refurbished, thanks to you. By renting out this gîte, you are contributing directly to the renovation of this local heritage: in the short term, the roofs of the enclosed building will be repaired, the spring water supply system renovated, the listed parquet floors renovated, and the interiors and equipment of the gîte refurbished.
