This two-story farmhouse features a large, eat-in kitchen, four bedrooms, including a downstairs master bedroom, and two full bathrooms. We set up the space with families and groups of friends in mind. Propane heat keeps it warm in the Winter months and in the Summer (July - September), window units in 3 bedrooms keep it cool.
Originally built in 1864, a large kitchen was added on to increase the size of the home and our large dining table seats 10, plus an island bar seats 4. There's tons of room for guests to supervise whomever will be the cook for your trip. You'll find a Pampered Chef Air Fryer Oven, 2 Crockpots, a full size coffee pot, 4-slice toaster and tons of pots, pans, baking sheets and dishes, and serving ware in the kitchen too. A dishwasher beside the sink (and included soaps) makes clean up a breeze.
The spacious living room has 3 couches and 3 arm chairs for seating. There's a TV (but no cable tv service, our Amazon Firestick allows you to sign into the streaming service of your choice) and DVD player, plus a cupboard full of DVDs and another full of family friendly games to keep you occupied on rainy days. There's no cell phone service, but if you enable wifi calling on your cell phone, you'll be all set!
The downstairs master bedroom features a queen sized bed and attached full bathroom with double sink. Upstairs you'll find the following bedroom layout, and another large full bathroom:
Upstairs Bedroom 2 - 1 Queen bed
Bedroom 3 - 1 Queen bed
Bedroom 4 - 2 Double Beds, 1 Single Bed (This room features 'The Closet Bed', which is a favorite of our nieces and nephews. It's a walk in closet, converted to hold a full size bed, yet safely located next to a window. )
With three porches and a large fire ring, there's plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the fantastic mountain views The Willow has to offer. A load of firewood is included with your stay and there are many places nearby to pick up more if you need it. The side porch off of the kitchen also has a gas grill with cleaning brush.
We often see elk, deer, turkey and occasionally a bear will wander through. Located just 10 minutes outside of Benezette in Caledonia, The Willow is a fantastic base camp for all of your Elk Country adventures.
For those with mobility challenges, please be aware that you must walk on a wooden platform and down a set of steps to get into The Willow.
There is no washer or dryer available for guest use at The Willow.
Please note we do not allow pets, parties, events or large gatherings at The Willow. In addition, there are exterior security cameras facing away from the home. Cameras are used to ensure house rules are followed (no pets, parties or events).
