The staff was always nice and helpful. However, the hotel is next to an active railway. The passing trains can wake you up a couple times per night. They offer earplugs and a white noise machine, but they didn't help. Also, it seems like they have a few parking lots less than rooms available, you got to park your car early, otherwise you will be forced to improvise.
I appreciated the early complementary coffe and muffins. The room was clean...
Lovely OLD chalet. The day girl at the desk very friendly and helpful. the morning girl kind of grumpy. I went to get a muffin and coffee in the morning and they were out of muffins. I asked her if there were more and she said no. A bit later I went and got more coffee and there were a ton of new muffins out. No sure why she lied. Located very close to the park entrance. Restaurant was lovely.
I must confess I did not read reviews closely enough. It seems you either love this place or you dont.
On opening web site Hotel is described as 5 Star. In terms of location and nearness to Glacier NP it is excellent. It is also historically quaint.
However, we arrived with weather in high 90s. No aircon in what was a very small room, no fridge/microwave, limited car parking and in the evening we arrived a very unsympathetic receptionist. Certainly not 5 Star in my rating and definitely worth the cost of booking
We decided to go for meal in adjoining restaurant only to find they had no beer.
The only positive was they allowed me to cancel the following 2 nights for $49 . This was well worth it even tjough booking somewhere else at short notice cost an arm and a leg. I should also point out the different receptionist in the morning could not have been nicer.
This is a unique hotel. It is very old so the rooms are small. They are clean and cozy.
The train comes by every few hours and is noisy, this didnt bother us. However you can hear people talking next door and when the people above us walk the squeeks from the flooring woke us. . If you are looking for a 5 star, this would not be it. If you are looking for some history and something a bit diffetent. Its a nice place. Staff was great, restaurant was very good. We enjoyed it.
Train passing by at night. No air conditioning, so we have to leave windows open. Couldn’t sleep because of noise heat and too much light from the outside
No one at check in desk when we arrived about 7:30 pm. Took a long time for a reply when we called the number provided.
Stairs were a problem for 1 in our party and no elevator.
Very noisy outside our window until 12:30 am. Sounded like a party going on in the woods behind us.
Room was small but clean and comfortable.
Coffee and pastries in the morning were a nice treat.
Front desk in the morning was friendly and helpful.
This place is wonderful!! Original chalet of the park which is fantastic! Floors are creaky but what do you expect?? Our only complaint is no air conditioning for the price per night. Great location just out of the park!!
No air conditioning makes the rooms very hot and difficult to sleep. The building is old so you will hear a lot of creaking of the floors at all
Hours. The front staff was not super friendly. The room was clean yet small.

Historical. Expect old school
Very quint historical hotel. Problem, unusual hot weather for Glacier! 2nd floor was very hot. After quite the battle, got 1st floor for second night. However, there was a high light that shined in the window on the first floor!
The house keepers were nice and helpful , the receptionist was not at her post on several occasions.
Had morning muffins that were good.
Bed comfortable.
Train came in late, but Meagan at the front desk was a big help getting us checked in at 3:30 in the morning!!
My room was very nice and quite adequate!!
Do not need the amenities that some other reviews have mentioned , you’re in the forest!

Beautiful location, hotel was clean, rooms were well appointed and decorated
Trains are close and a bit loud. During the heat wave without AC room was a bit hot until it cooled down at night. History of the place is a plus. Also close to park entrance and West Glacier amenities.

Great rustic chalet. The restaurant is fantastic. We ate there three nights in a row and never had a bad meal. The staff the restaurant are excellent. Many from different countries, which is fun. You get to learn about different places while you dine. The chalet was phenomenal. Just remember, there’s no air conditioning so if you do stay during a hot spell nights can be a little bit uncomfortable. However, it does get down in the low 50s during the summer so when you wake up, it’s nice and cool.
Beautiful location. No air conditioning in the rooms so can be a bit warm. However, the nights and mornings are very cool. Staff are great. The Belton Dining Room is awesome.
