The suite offers a coffee bar to include a coffee maker, mini fridge, and sink. A private covered porch area with seating overlooking the river is just the place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Guests are welcome to bring their canoes, paddleboards, tubes, or other river merriment. Pull out your camera or your paints and capture the natural beauty that surrounds the River Lodge. Relax on the bluff and read a book or kick back on your private porch and simply watch the river flow by. Meet fellow travelers out in the trees at the fire pit, cook up something on the gas grill or relax in the shelter of the barn aisle for games and conversation. Enjoy a little equine love at the horse barn watching the sunset across the oak shaded pastures.
River Lodge is the home of an artist/art collector, the walls sing with creative pieces for your enjoyment. Leave the kids behind for this trip and experience the freedoms and wide open spaces in the wilds of the Texas Hill Country at the legendary River Lodge.
Wimberley is only 15 minutes away and offers plenty to do and eat. Visit the galleries and varied shops in the downtown square, or arrange for a trail ride at a local ranch. Scoot your boots at one of the area dance halls. On the first Saturday of most months, Wimberley comes alive with Market Days, a large and varied flea market. Farther afield (about an hour) and decidedly less rural are Austin and San Antonio. The Hill Country is known for excellent wine, as well as for limestone hills and clear streams. You can work your way from Wimberley west to Fredericksburg tasting wine at any of the hundreds of vineyards. You can even hire a limo to drive you.
Looking for an outing for the day? Take a drive to Canyon Lake and rent a boat or jet skis for a fun afternoon on the water. Check out the music calendar at Whitewater Amphitheater and rock out at a concert! Explore New Braunfels and Gruene and enjoy fabulous restaurants and live music. A day of tubing, kayaking, and rafting on the Guadalupe River is always fun.
Blanco has several popular attractions for outdoorsmen, historians, and foodies. Blanco State Park offers fishing, swimming, and hiking. For those interested in the historical Old West, The Buggy Barn has over 140 covered wagons. Real Ale Brewing Company offers guided tours and a taproom tasting experience.
Further down the road, spend the day exploring Fredericksburg. Travel to Wine Road 290 which offers 19 wineries, all within a few miles of each other. Visit one of Fredericksburg’s two amazing museums: the National Museum of the Pacific War and the Pioneer Museum. During the summer, make sure to stop by a fruit stand and grab some famous Fredericksburg peaches.
