A welcome stop on the way to a funeral.
Some of the hotel was built in the 1600s . It was a very interesting building. The staircase was grade 1 listed and we were on the third floor so it was a bit wonky to get up there. It was 2 star so we weren't expecting anything more. Our room was clean and comfortable but on the list to be refurbished. Our daughter's room was not up to the cleanliness of ours. The bed hadn't been changed and was broken in one corner.
The people on reception were very keen to hear our views and put things right.
The hotel advertisement was misleading. It boasts beautiful views but all we could see was a scruffy concrete space from a dirty window. Our room was meant to have a queen bed but it was two singles pushed together with a top sheet which didn't fit, so it came off as soon as qe got into bed. Nowhere to eat or drink on sight. Ours was meant to be a deluxe room, but there was nothing deluxe about it. We had disposable cups in the room. Unfortunately, the section to add pictures isn't working.
the room was dirty, hadnt been hoovered. dirty paper napkins left under bedside cabinet. No food available at hotel. The whole hotel felt un-loved

You got what you paid for. It was cheap and a bed to lie on.
Work is being done and dust in the bedrooms. Toilet, sink and shower looked fairly new but round edge of lino floor was discoloured. Bits all over bedroom carpet. T.V not working. Lock on bedroom door very difficult to close. No food being available.
The room was disgusting sheets did not fit on beds, mattresses were filthy and toilet not clean, damp coming in, carpets not hoovered and not facilities for drinks. When we arrived it said on google the the place was closed. On making more enquiries I found out that the 5 star rating was for 2015 and has not been inspected since and since Covid all facilities had been shut except room rental.
I love this hotel… but the lack of food and drink meant I had to keep leaving room to get things, and there was no fridge so couldn’t keep drinks cool etc

The Rose and Crown is lovely old town house in the centre of Wisbeach. Because of its age it is little ropey but it is full of character. Mario, the Italian manager is the star of the show. He’s very helpful and friendly and always has time to talk. In addition, the price was very competitive. Overall, very good.

Very good value single room. I booked a night to break a long journey and Wisbech and the Rose & Crown suited my needs perfectly.
The manager, and the staff namely Carissa, Rita, Ahmed and Martin; we’re very attentive and so friendly. I could see they worked hard to keep up appearances. Only one issue I had was when I was out the night before the day I left, code for door was changed and I was stuck, till management let me in. Apart from that a pleasant stay and would recommend to friends and colleagues.
My stay as always without trouble, easy car parking and rooms that go back 400 odd years, they are fixing the hotel again , so there is some work , but you get a good sleep
