A totally off grid haven of peace and tranquility

We named our property The Great Escape because we want it to be a place where you can escape from reality, our idea is that this is a place to come and unwind, explore and be a long way away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life, we feel the name encapsulates that ethos.

Our property sits inland from Crescent head beach by 40 minutes, and 20 minutes from Kempsey. We are surrounded by national parks and state forest with endless hiking, mountain biking, 4wd'ing, and exploration right on our doorstep, we have an extensive list of activities to do both on and off the property including private swimming holes and waterfalls and a fully equipped gym for all our guests to use.

The house itself is built solely from timber gathered from the land it sits on, it is a total off-grid, eco-friendly home, run on solar and water tank systems as it is important to us to have minimum impact on the environment.

There is no better place to relax and unwind. Fire up the bbq, crack a cold one & soak in the views. Oh, and your furry friends are more than welcome in our home!

The access to our property is via a gravel road which can get a little bumpy. It is accessible in any car, 4wd not a necessity but please be aware of this and drive safe.
All linen is provided but we ask our guests to bring their own towels, this helps us to keep our water usage down.
Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private balcony. A Smart television is provided for your entertainment. Conveniences include a desk and a coffee/tea maker.

A wonderful getaway
Such a beautiful house and location! So many thoughtful and enhancing touches, and great communication. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The road up is quite rough with poor visibility towards the end and I recommend not making your first approach in the dark. My only suggestion to the owners would be to add fans to the upstairs bedrooms for hot summer nights. Thanks for the great stay!

2nd stay in 10 days
Before starting our break, we had decided to stay at "The Great Escape" on the way up to the Gold Coast and also for a couple of days on the way back. This place is so relaxing and peaceful. Just to sit and watch the everchanging scenery from the balcony is worth everything. In addition, there is a second balcony upstairs, this has its own special views. Are we wanting to come back YES... The hosts were so easy to get in contact with and replied to questions quickly. Fantastic, Wonderful, Beautiful. Peaceful

The very best
To be honest we were a little apprehensive about "Off the Grid" On the way up to the property we could see it off the road - we were warned that it was a bit bumpy - so no drama. OMG what a place. We were expecting - we don't know what - but what a place. Bacchi our fur baby was over the moon. We had a brilliant stay. It was so easy to "speak to the hosts" and that made it even more personal.

A Truly Great Escape
My wife and I (along with our dog) thoroughly enjoyed our week away at The Great Escape. It was the perfect place to unwind and forget about the day to day struggle. The view is truly beautiful and the property was very comfortable with all the amenities required. Drew was an exceptional host, assisting with all of our enquiries efficiently and effectively. I definitely recommend the property to those that want (or need) a quiet get away from the hustle and bustle.
