Curtains don’t cover the windows therefore as a woman alone made me feel uncomfortable when moving around roommates
The hotel was clean and smart, the dining options were excellent and the food absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly. The room was clean and well equipped. Bathroom also nice and clean. The bed was a little uncomfortable but not terribly so. Unfortunately it was a very warm September weekend. The first night the room was unbearably got even with the window open as the air con wasn't working and the heating was on. We reported this to reception and asked if there was at least a fan. Unfortunately this wasn't provided and the AC wasn't fixed, we were told it was out on the entire side of the hotel our room was on, they had at least turned the heating off but it was still unpleasant warm even with having left the windows open. This did mean we didn't sleep at all well especially as the noise was excessive from parties and people coming and going from the hotel. The TV also wasn't tuned in so we couldn't even watch TV to pass the night and even though it was a smart TV it wasn't connected to the internet so we couldn't even cast to the TV from our devices. Hopefully the renovation work they are doing will fix these issues soon.
The worst place I have ever stayed, dirty, disgusting, smelly. Marks on carpets and broken drawers. Skylight window so dirty couldn’t see through it.

Attentive staff, few small improvements needed
Very helpful and accomodating reception team. Corridors and door to room looked rundown and not inkeeping with the interoior standard of the rooms and lobby area, which were modern and attractive.
Cleanliness standard good but bedding could have smelt fresher, mattress was also quite firm. AC not very effective, could only open the window slightly so room was quite warm.

Breakfast was poor. Plus invoice received doesn’t match what I paif
The room was dirty and extremely tired. The toilet had brown stains, the curtains were covered in stains, the bedside table was covered in cigarette burns, the room was hot and stuffy/smelly. The Atlantic beer tasted bad/different and gave me an upset stomach (only had 2 pints).
This is probably the worst hotel I have stayed in.

This is a hotel that has seen better days. On arrival there was nobody at the reception desk and we were left waiting for 20 minutes for a staff member to check us in.
The room we booked was an executive suite for us and or 11 year old daughter, however the sofa bed was so uncomfortable with unpadded springs that all three of us spent the night in the king size bed.
The hotel is undergoing some undergoing some refurbishment, which it badly needs, however the drilling and hammering at 11PM on a Sunday night was completely unacceptable.
We paid extra for breakfast and honestly wish we’re had not bothered. The food had been left under heated lights for quite some time and was tough and greasy. The hot drink machine was broken so no hot drinks were available. All in all it was not worth the money.
It was such a shame to see how this hotel has deteriorated over the past 10 years since we last stayed.
The bathroom had mould and no hot water. There was damp everywhere. I even had to go back to the reception to get teabags as there wasn’t any in the room at all.

Our room was musty smelling and there was a giant wooden beam next to the bed with barely any room to walk past without walking into it during the night if you needed to use the bathroom. The bed was soft and small. Not a good stay.

Evening meal poor. Ordered fish and chips which came from the poachers pub as kitchen closed
It was burnt. I struggled the even get a lnife into the batter. I showed the staff member who said about getting another but by the time he asked it was to late as partner had almost finished. Still charged the 18.50 for it.
The breakfast was ok. Croissants not cooked in midlle and fried eggs seen better days.

When booking nothing like the picture when arriving
Hotel.com said check in 2pm once booked hotel said 3pm and that the second floor was being renovated which wasn't mentioned until booking had been confimed
The place felt very tired, and a shadow of it's former self. The breakfast was over-priced. I had to pester to receive a fork, sugar, and milk - all things you should expect to be available at breakfast.
BLACK MOULD ALL OVER THE WALLS!
Glasses not cleaned. Terrible stay.

Appreciate the property maybe in the process of refurbishment but this should be highlighted upfront.
extremely damp and musty smell especially in hall and stair wells and lifts out of action.
If i was hotel owners i would also look at quality of work being done and poor paintwork and lack of attention to detail like replacing worn stained carpets damage woodwork like skirtings door frames or architrave will let the refurbishment down.
Breakfast was adequate but again quality not the best and cooked breakfast elements not kept warm enough.
thankfully only 1 night stay and chosen purely for location to the places we needed to visit.
Mould infested. Do not use their iron unless want clothes ruined.
Do not be fooled by 'new' lobby and bar. Rooms are mould infested and not decorated in last 20 years
