We came up for the York marathon… this guest house is 16 min walk from the trains station, quick and simple to check in, room was spacious, nicely maintained and the en suite was too. Breakfast was delicious and served promptly xxx this little gem is hassle free was extremely nice staff.

On a main road so traffic noise, nice walking distance into York. Bed collapsed so I think new bed would be a bonus as uncomfortable, nice hosts and breakfast to start the day.

This B & B is in a really good location. It offers car parking on the street for £5 a day, which is really good value. It took me (a slow walker) a good 20 mins to half an hour to walk into the town. The breakfast was ok, average. The communication before we got there was excellent and I was able to text any questions before arriving, but once we got there we were left to our own devices. We had a ground floor room, it was a nice size and clean, but needs updating. The furniture was obviously old and the wardrobe got stuck every time. The bathroom was ok, had a bath with a shower, toilet and sink, hand wash and a couple of little tubes of body and hair wash. 2 towels each but they are small so if you like a big bath towel, take your own. The towels were not changed in the 4 days we were there. The bed was soft. The room had tea and coffee making facilities.

Gladly use it again
Only used the guest house as a base so was exactly what we hoped for. The fact there was no curfew and were free to come and go whenever we chose was a bonus.

The pictures look a lot better than the property actually is. We were disappointed with what we had booked to be fair. Has to be lots of nicer guest houses around but this has put me off staying in a guest house again. Think I'd rather pay the extra for a hotel. We do try and book with independents but this property is very tired and in much need of investment. That said, the host was very polite and helpful. Shower was great, location perfect and the breakfast was lovely. Expected better for the price.

The Crescent Guest House was very good. It was in a very good area, close to many attractions in York as also to restaurants and cafes, especially Bettys Tea Room!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will go back to the Crescent Guest House when I plan to go to York again in the near future. Robert Reid.

Location is spot on and for me the room size and breakfast were ideal but they are both on the small side. TV and bathroom light didn't work and shower was not very good at pressure or temperature. I don't think it quite deserves it's price tag
