Welschen is about 10mins walk from the main train station with luggage. U need to ascend a gentle upslope to reach the property. Look out on your right hand side for a chance to turn in while walking up. There is a lift that is sort of hidden which will bring you to the reception level, lookout for an obscure lift signage. Pls note there is no lift that brings you to the rooms though. The stairs creaked but considering this is a very old property (since 1932!), it is extremely well-maintained and clean. The balcony width is narrow but enough to sit 2 and the balcony faces the Matterhorn. Excellent view on days with good weather. If you are there with friends and family with side-by-side rooms, the balcony is only separated by plants so you can share the same balcony space & chit-chat. There is however, ongoing construction in front of the property. No noise disturbance as we are usually out in the day, but the crane situated in front of the property obstructs the view a little. Surely, this will not be there permanently. Attached bathroom is spacious. Breakfast spread was more than sufficient for me and offers a good variety for health-conscious eaters. The decor of the property is simply wonderful & has a homely feel. The owner, Mr Welschen was kind enough to offer us a ride to the train station on our departure day. On the overall, the stay was very cosy and I would recommend this place, especially if you prefer a quieter environment.
