Holiday In Dallas

There are many things you don’t mess with in Texas: Fried foods, state fairs and the most American football ever, for starters.

In fact, don’t mess with Texas at all—just take a holiday in Dallas, where you can kick back and enjoy art, shopping and entertainment that’s better than everywhere else (at least according to the locals).

Things to Do in Dallas

You probably think of sports, Tex-Mex and giant cowboy hats when you think of holidays to Dallas, but this city has a surprising artsy side. In the Deep Ellum neighbourhood, follow the life story of the iconic Travelling Man robot. The first statue emerges from the ground near Good Latimer Expressway and Elm Street, the second entertains the crowds playing guitar a block north and the third provides awesome photo ops at the DART station. Just west of Deep Ellum, visit the Nasher Sculpture Center to see all kinds of modern art—including a sculpture of a piece of bread and plenty of trippy cubist statues.

For art created by Mother Nature instead, head up to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden in the northeast corner of the city. Pack a picnic and find a secluded spot among 25 hectares of red maples, magnolias and myrtle trees. The garden hosts a festival each season, and no matter when you take your Dallas holiday, the best views of the city skyline are always guaranteed.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Dallas may have the Cowboys, Mavericks and Stars as its official teams, but in this town, shopping is a sport too! (The Visitors Bureau claims it has more shopping per capita than any other U.S. city—time to put that claim to the test.) With Dallas packages in Uptown, shopaholics never have to leave the neighbourhood. Ride the vintage trolley to art galleries, speciality boutiques and antique shops for the quaintest shopping excursion ever, then visit the uber-upscale fashion and department stores.

Now it’s time for that Tex-Mex! Head downtown to find out what’s really bigger in Texas: platters of tacos, piles of nachos and of course, endless margaritas. When you’ve had enough chile con carne for one lifetime, try a classic Texas roadhouse for succulent steaks (which will also be giant—sorry!), falling-off-the-bones ribs and country-fried chicken. Got your fancy pants on? Stick to Uptown’s classy joints or take one of our Dallas car hire deals north to Highland Park.

Don’t worry about all that food you just ate, because you’re about to dance it off (yes, and then eat more). West Village has the hip nightclub scene and the Arts District is where the trendsetters hang out, but we know why you’re really here. Head to Greenville Avenue in the Knox/Henderson district to get down on some good old-fashioned country line dancing.

What’s Next?

If a city filled with insanely delicious food, unique art and nightlife that is quite literally boot-stompin’ doesn’t suit your fancy, well, you’re crazier than a cowboy wearing thongs. Dallas holiday packages have something for everyone—and we mean everyone. Book today and see the Big D for yourself.
