Holidays in Aleipata Islands

Been diagnosed with a nasty case of the travel bug? Don't worry — we've got the cure. Book a flight to Aleipata Islands and you'll be feeling a hundred percent in no time!

There's no need to travel too far to reach Aleipata Islands, 45 kilometres southeast of the dynamic city of Apia.

Does a sunrise by the sea sound appealing? Then take the opportunity to visit Lalomanu Beach, 5 kilometres to the northwest.

You won't have to be on the road all day to witness a bit of nature. Just 50 kilometres out of Aleipata Islands, Papaseea Sliding Rocks is a superb place to get out into the fresh air. More picturesque surrounds are waiting for you at Piula Cave Pool, 30 kilometres away.

After some thrilling rugby league action? Then come and see the Samoa national rugby league team compete against the opposition on their home ground of Apia Park, 45 kilometres away in Apia.

Do you like the sound of To-Sua Trench and Sopoaga Water Falls? These brilliant attractions are near the middle of Aufaga, just 14 kilometres west. Use this as a base for a while and do some exploring!

About 80 kilometres to the east, Pago Pago is a destination with lots on offer. National Park of American Samoa, Mount Alava and Matafao Peak are all quite close. Keep in mind, Fagatele Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Cloud Rainforest to Reef Hike are also worthy.

Mountain climbing and hiking are both quite popular with the locals. These outdoor activities will let you experience this incredible region from a totally different perspective.

Do you love watersports? Add some excitement to your getaway with some swimming or snorkeling.

To truly experience a place is to try the local food and drink, so prepare to gnaw, nibble, sip and swig your way around Samoa. The only thing you need to bring with you is a decent appetite!

Do you love your crayfish? What about taro? Whether you're into them or not, they are two ingredients commonly used in the cuisine here.

There's no need to dither over the restaurant menu while in Aleipata Islands. Jump straight in and sink your teeth into some of the region's most well-known dishes, such as taro root seasoned and baked in oven and oka l’a (marinated raw fish).

We don't think you'll need too much persuading to have a bite of cooked green bananas in coconut cream, a sweet treat that'll make you want to pack everything up and move here.

Your visit to Aleipata Islands is certain to be more fun if you make the effort to memorise a few of the local phrases. You may be glad you learnt 'E fia le tau?', which is how they say 'how much is this?'. 'Ia manuia le aso', which means 'have a nice day', is also rather common.

Expecting to be here around the 1st of June? You're in luck. On this date each year, the whole country joins together for Independence Day Celebration.

Before you say your final "Toe feiloa'i" to Aleipata Islands, check your pockets for any stray change that you can spend on last-minute memorabilia.

Making it to your plane on time can sometimes be stressful. That being said, you should be fine if you're prepared. The nearest terminal, Faleolo International Airport (APW), is 70 kilometres to the west.
