We recently stayed at this hotel, and while the property itself is stunning and the location couldn't be more ideal, there were a few issues that detracted from our overall experience. First off, the location is truly unbeatable, nearby attractions, dining, and shops. The property itself is gorgeous – well-maintained with stylish, welcoming common areas. However, the room we booked was unfortunately very small. While we understand that city hotels often have compact rooms, this one felt particularly cramped, with not much space to move around comfortably. The biggest issue, though, was the shower. It leaked water all over the bathroom floor, creating a messy and unpleasant situation. Additionally, the service from the front desk was a bit underwhelming. While they weren’t exactly rude, they didn't go out of their way to be accommodating or helpful when we raised the issue about the leaking shower. We would have appreciated more proactive customer service, especially given the room issues.

I Found Hygge in Bergen
Loved my short stay at the Clarion. So cozy and friendly and I was always welcomed back after a day of exploring the city. Catherine at the front desk had great suggestions which enhanced my stay in Bergen. Sitting in the lobby next to the fire in the big arm chairs, sipping some local aquavit helped me understand the concept of hygge.

Upscale but so friendly and relaxed. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. The view from the top of the tower was a lovely unexpected extra.

Good choice
Only needed for a one night stopover. Great location, character hotel with its own 'tower' (you have to get a key from reception to reach it). All the staff we encountered were really nice and cheerful. Special mention to Christine who checked us in, and was equally cheerful and friendly every time we encountered her.

We checked into the hotel in the evening before 5 pm. The hostess never told us about the dining features. It was only after we had been to the hotel for about 2 days that I happen to come down when another guest-with a different complexion than mine was told about the breakfast-noon sweets and the evening light meal.I doubt if this was a oversight. The experience made me realize that I was being judged by the color of my skin and not the content of my character. I would not recommend this establishment to people of color due to the bias that my husband and I experienced. We all pay the same amount of money for a nightly room and hence should all be treated in the same manner-your personnel should be trained on the need for professionalism!!!!!!

Mia at the front desk was excellent. We stayed first for 2 nights, then went on our 12 day Hurtigruten sail, and then returned to Bergen for an additional 4 nights. Mia made it like we were coming back home to family. Our stay was delightful and she was very helpful to us in providing guidance for around the city and helping us book the bus to the Bergen airport.
