Blue Heaven Island is not a hotel. It’s like staying at your friend’s private island. Jimmy and Eli will treat you as their own houseguests, welcoming you with kindness and an eagerness to please. There is absolutely nothing on the island but nature itself. No cars, restaurants, tv, or bars. It is nature’s paradise. Jimmy’s French-Polynesian cooking is sublime and for a fee they can take you to the main island of Bora Bora if you want to shop or visit an island attraction. My children spent hours snorkeling in the lagoon, eating mangoes, and looking for crabs. I had quality time with myself and my book. My children had freedom to play in the shallow placid water without any people around to worry about. The kayaks are free, the fish are everywhere and the sunsets are beyond postcard perfect. If you are coming to the islands for the quintessential tourist protocol I suggest a big hotel. You won’t find a drop of alcohol here except for what you bring yourself. If you are coming to have a true island experience, alone with very few people, Blue Heaven Island is a humble retreat I feel so lucky to have known. It’s important to know this is not the Four Seasons, these are real bungalows with real palm roofs and real coral reefs and all the discomforts that may come with that. We did not suffer a bit, but this is not a luxury resort. I imagine there are few places left on the planet that are this isolated and yet open to the public. It is a gem.
