Dirty,rundown and really is a 2* at best awful
We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times a year since the year it opened. Never have I left a bad review or complained this time was awful. My husband’s words were “ you wouldn’t rent this room by the hour” it was dirty, the upkeep was nil the carpet was absolutely disgusting, the tiles in the bathroom toilet were cracked and moved. The door wouldn’t shut properly, there was no coffee in the supposed coffee pot, it smelled in the room and out the hall it was worst stay we ever had so disappointed after all these years.

Far from a good rating.
I could feel the springs in the bed. There were cracked tiles in the bathroom and there was such a pungent smell in the room I struggled to sleep. Not a good experience. The bed and smell was reported to the front desk who had no spare rooms.

Not worth the money.
Certainly not a 4* hotel and really not worth the £200+ per night price tag. Reception, bar & restaurant areas are very nice but the restaurant food was expensive and of an average to good standard. We had a room on the second floor that was quite 'tired', the carpet was worn and looked dirty. Although the bed was very large it was also very soft which made it spring up and down (like a trampoline! )when sitting on it or moving around at night. No coat hooks on entry to the room, just some hangers in the wardrobe. On the Saturday night there was a office Christmas party being held on the 6th floor which we could hear quite well on the 2nd floor!

I'd booked a twin room, which was a room with a double bed and a sofa bed; I'd emailed ahead of the booking to confirm that the sofa bed would be made ready before arrival. I received no response to the email, and the sofa bed wasn't made up. The bathroom had a slight smell present, I am not sure if it was damp or mould. The bathroom as in need or some minor repairs as tiles had started to come loose and grouting was missing on the floor. The sofa bed was also a bit knackered and not exceptionally comfortable. The room in general requires a bit more care and attention. Not the most loved of hotel rooms, and whilst the location was ideal as in the city centre, the hotel could do with a bit more looking after.
