Hotels In Snowy Mountains

Affectionately known as ‘The Snowies’, ‘the high country’ and the ‘roof of Australia’, The Snowy Mountains are the highest mountain range in Australia and are located in Southern NSW. Why not check out our Snow Mountains Hotels in Jindabyne, Thredbo, Tumut or Crackenback for a truly alpine experience.

Home to Australia’s greatest ski fields, ‘The Snowies’ experience huge snowfalls in the winter months which makes it the perfect place for skiing and snowboarding. Stay in one of the many ski resorts including Thredbo, Perisher Blue, Charlottes Pass, Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow and Selwyn Snowfields. There are some awesome downhill runs for the experienced skier at Thredbo and Perisher Blue, or for the novice skier try Charlottes Pass or Selwyn which are ideal for families with young kids.

When the snow melts at the end of ski season, the Snowy Mountains becomes a wilderness wonderland and is great for bushwalking, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. The Snowy Mountains contains huge glacial lakes and several large rivers including The Snowy, The Murrumbidgee and The Murray whose pristine waters can be explored by boat or kayak, or you can anchor down and go swimming or fishing.

In summer, Mount Kosciusko is blanketed with wildflowers and becomes a mecca for walkers keen to explore the rugged landscape as they head for the summit, which offers one of the best day walks in the area as well as an awesome birds-eye view.

You can travel to the Snowy Mountains by booking a flight to Canberra and drive or bus it to Cooma, the gateway to the region, only an hour’s drive away, or hop on a flight to Sydney and drive the distance (about 5 hours) to Jindabyne or Selwyn where you can relax in your Snowy Mountain Hotel before hitting the slopes.
