This was a shared 6 person mixed room. However, the room was right next to the bar/dining area and was consistently noisy in the evening till around 1am. The music was played sooooo loudly that it affected sleeping. The bed was comfortable, the shared restroom surprisingly clean.

I transferred to the solo bedroom. Much less noise. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The shower was a bit inconvenient as there was nowhere to place the soap. The soap was also very jelly-like so it couldn’t come out the pump. Luckily I had my own.

Overall, I’m happy with my experience, but there are a couple of things that need improvement. The first is the check-in process—it honestly takes too long. After a long flight, that lengthy check-in was something I won’t forget. The second issue is with the restaurant. If you're planning to have breakfast there, make sure to set aside about an hour and a half. The service is quite slow, which can get a bit frustrating. However, the hostel itself is fantastic, the staff is friendly, and we had a great time overall. Thank you! Just please speed things up a bit—I paid to spend more time by the beach or pool.

Overall, I’m quite pleased with my stay, but there are a couple of areas that need improvement to make the experience even better. First and foremost, the check-in process could be streamlined significantly. It honestly felt like it took forever. After a long, tiring flight, I was really looking forward to relaxing, but that prolonged check-in made it difficult to start my stay on a positive note. It’s something that could definitely be sped up for the comfort of future guests. The second area for improvement is the restaurant service, especially during breakfast. While the food itself was enjoyable, the service was slower than expected. If you plan to have breakfast there, I’d recommend setting aside at least an hour and a half. The slow pace can be a bit frustrating, especially if you’re eager to get out and enjoy the day. The leisurely service felt more inconvenient than relaxing, which was slightly disappointing.That said, there’s a lot to love about this hostel. The atmosphere is inviting, and the facilities are top-notch. The staff members are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seem to care about making sure you have a great time. Despite the minor inconveniences, we really enjoyed our stay and made some wonderful memories. Thank you for the experience! Just a suggestion—if things could move a little faster, especially at check-in and breakfast, it would really enhance the overall experience. After all, I’d rather spend my time soaking up the sun by the beach

I had an amazing time in Mayan Monkey. What I liked about it was the social and friendly vibe of both the tourists and the staff. I mostly liked the social setting where people come to eat breakfast in the morning and then vibe and socialize after that. Also I really liked the scenery right outside Mayan Monkey with both the lagoon view being amazing and the other side where there is the street lined with palm trees and luxury condos and hotels which reminds me of Miami. Overall it’s a place I’d heavily recommend to anyone who visits Cancun.

The property has an upbeat vibe as they play music throughout most of the day and night. It also has a bar and also food which you can pay for and order all day and night. The drinks and food are fine. The lobby is NOT air-conditioned and is extremely hot and uncomfortable during the day and night. Be prepared to sweat heavily. The property is located in the lagoon side and their are crocodiles located next to the hostel. Can be scary for those who are afraid of them. Security is not good as several guests reported that some of their things were stolen by other guests, so you MUST secure anything of value in your room and outside of your room. My labeled food was taken from the kitchen area within 12 hours of me spending lots of money to buy and store the food there. From then on, I always ate outside and did not trust the other guests. They do provide lockers for this, in your room. These lockers can still be easily accessed by others, this is why guests sleep with their valuables in their bed. Some guests in the room are sketchy, not trustworthy, and of low level because the price is cheap to stay here. Be very aware of your roommates and your belongings. Overall, my stay was uncomfortable due to the hot lobby and some of the guests, but this is a hostel, so keep this in mind.
