Stay was fine with friendly staff and adequate resources for a family of 4 in one room, but not having parking availability on site was an issue as we had to drop the bags and then find offsite parking. Parking on site should be reserved for guests.

Would not come back...
On arrival to the hotel we found the foyer quite untidy but were welcomed by a friendly gentleman at reception. The corridor leading to the room looked like it was last painted 20 years ago, and the overall feel was that the hotel was very outdated. Our room was comfortable and clean, however we discovered that there must have been some kind of leak coming from the bathroom as the carpet by the bathroom door was soaked! we stepped in it a few times and werent sure what it was but when i mentioned it to the reception staff he wasn't surprised at all! That room should not have been in use! He offered us a free car park as a good will gesture... The leisure club could also do with some renovation as the hut tub really smelled of damp, and changing rooms should be cleaned more often as the floor was full of hair! On a plus side, the breakfast was tasty, the restaurant clean and staff very pleasant, although there was no fried egg on offer. Unfortunately, I would not stay there again.

Standards are slipping.
Although my room was clean it was dated. I payed for an upgraded room however I did not have a coffee machine in my room neither did I have cans of water in the fridge. Whenever I am away for business I always choose a hotel with gym and spa facilities whenever I’m in Cardiff I always choose this hotel because of the facilities. However, The last two times service has been slow at the front desk, occasionally rude at the bar and the sauna is never working/on first thing on the morning when I’m looking to use it.

Front of house staff not overly friendly, room outdated, toilet handle needed pumping to flush the toilet, the shower doesnt get hot but suddenyly goes cold. Barely any of the TV channels worked. Very noisy neighbours as our room joined on to another room via a door. The pull out sofa bed was not great due to the mattress not properly fitting and tilted backward. Friendly staff at breakfast, and the breakfast was great.

Standard rooms are very basic
Standard rooms are very basic and need refurbishment, its a short walk to the to the centre of town but to return late at night my wife did not feel the safe as route is via a bridge and not particularly well lighted side street and hotel entrace is arround the back via the hotel car park, there is no entrance from the main road. Also there was a smell of sewage in the car park that could also be smelt in the hotel bar area. For the price there are more modern options in the centre of town that we would choose if we were to stay in Cardiff in the future.
