This is a special place. It is not your typical hotel. A beautiful property with four Thai Villa's, meaning a large teak structure with a balcony. My Villa overlooked a temple. The sound of chanting monks at sunrise and sunset made it feel incredibly special. The Villas are huge (By Thai standards), with a downstairs kitchen and sitting area. The grounds are beautiful, a large garden, a little pond, and lots of very happy cats running around. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old city. Moreover, located in a small alley (soi) the place was quiet, which is a blessing because the streets of Chiang Mai (the old city) tend to be super loud. The secret of this place, however, is its host, Ms. Julia. She is incredibly thoughtful, kind and helpful. I had the feeling that she really listened to me, figured out what I actually like, and directed me well. I listened to some of the best local music ever, went to remote hard to find temples, ate incredible local food, and went to nature areas that were simply breathtaking. Had it not been for Julia, I would of ended up doing mainstream tourist activities. With her help, I got a real taste for Chiang Mai and Thailand generally. It is with gratitude that I write this review. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how special this little retreat in the heart of the city has been for me.
