Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Poor management with no customer care.
We were going for our anniversary and booked a room with a view. Turns out you can not see the mountian because the roof on the porch blocks it. That night was very cold and the electric blanket on the one side did not work. Then we found a stain on the duvet that looked like bird poop. Throughout the night the porch light was shining in through the window as the curtian was broken in the corner. Early the next morning "on our anniversary" we were woken up by a loid noise on the porch. Turns out they were fixing the porch "the only place with a good view" and where we planned to have our breakfast without informing us. When we confronted the owner she merely apologised with apathy and continued to gossip about us right outside our door.
Great place to relax while visiting Clarens and the nearby areas such as Sentinel Peak. Comfy beds. The breakfast is nice, kitchen made a couple of good omelettes and a breakfast sammie, but when staff showed up with surprise vetkoeks every guest was smiling. The great room and terrace are lovely places to slowly have one last coffee before setting out on the day's adventure.
Very very tired property with ingrained dirt in shower cubicle with dangerous chipped floor tiles, door that cannot close and extractor fan the dirtiest I have seen in my life. Linen was clean. Animal poo under breakfast chair on veranda. The only redeeming feature was the exceptional view.
We paid full price for room 2 (only guests) but if you checked the Expedia price on the night it was heavily discounted.
From the check-in to the check-out - this stay was fantastic. Very friendly check-in, great tips what to do and where to dine. A wonderful room, very nice, with direct access to the terrace. Super organization, also for the time of load-shedding. A yummy breakfast in the morning sun, and then a check-out as smooth and friendly as at the beginning. This B&B is highly recommend!
Mike who manages the B&B is very friendly. The place is a wonderful place to relax and The Highlander is a great place to eat.

Disliked: Staff & service
Our stay was pleasant breakfast was mediocre. The rooms had no Wi fi and no TV on a rainy day or if you can't sleep a TV in the room would have been great Extra towels and toilet paper had to be requested as the cleaning service missed these items
