Holiday In Dublin

Haven’t you wondered what the luck of the Irish is all about? Well, there’s no better place to begin your quest for that knowledge than in Ireland’s capital of Dublin.

Check out the sporting grounds, see some medieval castles and drink Guinness. Lots and lots of Guinness. Sift through lastminute.com.au’s great selection of Dublin holiday packages and make your getaway today.

Things to Do in Dublin

Since there’s so many things do to in the city, you’re going to want to get a vehicle from lastminute.com.au’s great Dublin car hire options so you can cover ground in no time. Head over to Croke Park, the headquarters and principal stadium of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Take a behind-the-scenes tour to see every inch of this historic ground. From the dressing rooms to the luxury suites and even setting foot on the pitch, this tour has got to be on your list of to-dos.

After learning about Gaelic sporting traditions, make your way to the National Museum of Ireland--Archaeology. In the permanent exhibition of Ór – Ireland’s Gold, you’ll see items like ear-spools, neck collars and a necklace of hollowed golden balls. There’s also an entire exhibition dedicated to when the Vikings ran amok across “The Land of Luck”.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

All right, now that you’ve done some sightseeing during your holiday in Dublin, it’s time for spending. Head to Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and make stops at booksellers, department stores, souvenir stands and music shops. The shopping isn’t just limited to this place, many areas of suburban Dublin have big shopping malls like Omni Shopping Centre and Blanchardstown Centre.

Your hunger is certainly going to kick in at some point, and when that happens, try to find yourself on Moore Street, a massive open-air fruit and vegetable market. But if you’re for a full meal, Talbot Street on the city’s Northside is a great area to be if you fancy yourself a foodie. There’s bakeries serving up tasty loaves of potato bread and sit-down restaurants with best plate of corned beef and cabbage you’ve ever had.

A Dublin holiday isn’t such if you don’t spend after hours in the Temple Bar area, a lively section of the city centre. We’re not going to try to tell you how many bars there are because we can’t count that high, but many of them have been around for over 100 years. Stop in for a pint of stout at The Oliver St. John Gogarty, and then head over to the Foggy Dew for a shot (or two…or three…) of Jameson.

What’s Next?

If we haven’t captured your interest with talk of football, dark beer and whiskey, then we give up. But we’re fairly certain we have. Browse our incredibly cheap Dublin packages and book your getaway today. We bet you’ll come back feeling luckier than ever.
