The hotel is a bit dated and could use some upgrades, but overall it is a good hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds and a clean and functional bathroom. The location was perfect as it was walking distance to the Edmonton Marathon, which is why I stayed there. There are lots of restaurant options close by and within walking distance (less than 1 km).
It’s a pretty dated place but the staff seem friendly and on a nice summer day you can walk down to Edmonton’s beautiful river valley (ask for a room with a view of the river valley). Should really refresh that gym. Old equipment. Oddly no weight bench, smells a bit mouldy. For a place that bills itself as a major conference hotel, some modern amenities like that would be an helpful attraction. Overall however, it’s a decent place for the price. Should be aware that it’s an area in Edmonton’s downtown where there are quite a few transients. But I have never been bothered.
We like the area and the room cost, but every year we realize just how outdated it is.

Amazing continental breakfast and front desk staff at check in. Room was basic, no bathroom fan. Couldn't get tv to work. Area downtown at night is sketchy. People woke us on the 10th floor outside our door and in the halls loudly drunk and looking for someone or something. Security didn't resolve the issue even though more than myself complained, and this lasted from 330 am until 530am. They should have called EPS. These individuals sounded threatening and I was scared to speak up. The deposit that was almost the barrier to the room rental, was returned without even a room inspection so it seems silly to enforce so strongly a policy that doesn't have the follow through as expected. Either way I was grateful to have found a room with kind staff that late in the night. Thanks!
We had a pleasant stay. The room was suitably equiped and clean. Our stay was an overnight lodging for the Edmonton Servus Marathon the morning of our departure.
This hotel is very reasonably priced. It was clean, very convenient location, SUPER views of the river valley. They have a concierge who is an older gentleman who is so great. He was so helpful and chatted with all the guests… he is worth his weight in gold! They have a buffet breakfast which was good… we witnessed two guests trying to steal huge plates of food but other than that it was nice and very reasonably priced. Good bang for your buck!
.The Chateau Lacombe is a lovely hotel. We had issues when we were there which was disappointing. I shared about our experiences with the chief operating officer after we got home. The good news is that he got back to me immediately with a very apologetic note along with the offering of a very satisfactory resolution that has made us happy. We look forward to what should be a very memorable occasion the next time we go there
The hotel has not been updated since it was built, which was in the 70s. Very noisy, all you hear is slamming doors and stomping all night. There’s one person at the front desk for a hotel that has 300 rooms. The location is the only good thing about this place. The bedding is so bad- one not fitted sheet over a mattress protector, with a blanket sandwiched between 2 bed sheets? I wouldn’t stay here again even if it was free. Spend the extra $40-50 and stay at a nicer hotel in the area.
We have stayed there many times and the value for the room and location were amazing. It is getting older forsure and could use some updateing, mainly in the garage elevators. we have always enjoyed it .
The hotel staff at the check in were less than friendly. I also was not informed of the facilities. The cleaning staff, on the other hand, were very friendly and accommodating.
The other thing that I am a little upset about is that we were not given a good view, despite the fact that we were there for four nights and paid a premium.
