LOL, an acronym for - lodge on the lake, lots of laughs or lots of love and all three are applicable when you stay at the Lodge on the Lake at Surduc, in the west of Romania.
The nearest airport is Timisoara which is approximately 90 minutes away. You have the option either to be picked up at the airport which takes only a short while to get through, no hustle and bustle.
The space
You will be transported in a 7 seat Zafira to the lodge (literally on a few meters away from the lake). Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements to the Lake. The lodge, mostly made of wood, has 3 double bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom/shower and a separate balcony with a chaise lounge and a corner table unit to enjoy a drink or a meal with a view.
Downstairs there is a small kitchen another small bathroom/shower, a large double bedroom, another living room with a sofa bed with the front door leading to a terrace, another place to eat/drink overlooking the entrance with space for 4 cars.
At the back downstairs there is a room a large living room with wooden stairs going upstairs and a seven-seat corner unit to relax on, as well as 2 doors to the side and back. The door leading to the back social area has: a stone-built barbecue, a solid wood swing seat and 3 wooden benches around an open stone fire easy to use and enjoy the glow or you could even try the hammock!
For a small extra charge, in the basement there is a 3 man canoe and a small electric powered dinghy for 3, as petrol/diesel boats are not allowed on the lake - environmentally aware! From the social area there are about 20 steps down to the pontoon (about 6x4 m) on the lake made of solid wood where you can relax, have a swim, fish or launch the boats from to enjoy the lake and its vistas.
There is also a small kitchen, not much time spent in there! Another bathroom/shower room and a large double bedroom and a smaller living room with a sofa bed leading to the front door and a terrace overlooking the entrance and a space for 4 cars.
For those of you who enjoy getting away from it all there is still the free use of WIFI if you want to keep in touch.
